Sometimes you just get lucky...

I found this gem on craigslist for $48. Goes to ~500 degrees F and was a little bigger than I expected!

But look what fits perfectly inside :yay:

Edit: Yes I would take the valve stem off, I was just seeing if they would fit.

Is that a 15" wheel? Hmmm... maybe I could powdercoat my mini wheels, they could use a second life.

old BLUE M!
We have a few of those at work. We actually tossed one recently because the temp dial was all screwy as compared to actual values and we had a spare. I thought about bringing it home for the same purpose but I don't really have a good place for it. So check yours and make sure the temp on the dial is the same as the temp in the oven.

Yeah its a 15", you might even be able to fit a 16" depending on the rim thickness. I still have to get the powder gun and some powder itself... but those are fairly cheap. I guess the trick with powder coating (like anything else I guess) is that the metal has to be really clean for it to stick well. If you get the powder in the color you want (or tell me when I order mine) , we can try it out. I was going to get the powder from caswell, since I hear it is good quality and they have lots of choices. http://www.caswellplating.com/powder/powder_colors.html

Yeah that yellow thingy sticking out the top is a thermometer. I turned it on and it seemed fairly accurate. The regulator knob is in centigrade but the thermometer is F. The guy I got it from got it from work also, but was moving and didn't want to bring it with him. It is missing one of the seals on the top, but I'm sure I can block it up.

So, what do you think about fitting a 17" rim, probably 6-6.5" wide?

I can measure. (IMP :condom: )

Total width between the rack mounts is just short of 18", depth is the same and the height shouldn't be a problem. Measure your wheel and check the actual size.

You realize I posted this to lure people here so they can strip paint and undercoating while they wait  Im going to probably order the powder next week. So far I'm getting a bronze, gloss black, clear and maybe another color. Let me know what color you want if you are serious, I'm ordering from http://www.caswellplating.com/powder/powder_colors.html . I still owe you the 13 bucks from the diff order so that should cover it.

That caswell place is where I got my powders from as well. The super glossy black is really nice and I got a silver thats nice for wheels and misc brackets. I also got some of the faux annodized powders that work well, but the metal has to be super clean.
Don't forget to pre-heat aluminum stuff to prevent bubbles.
Nice score on the oven!
