400 lbs for a set of Primary gears? :-O Ha hopefully I am missing the humor because we trade those things around and consider them to have the common value of an equivalent bucket of gravel.

heh. I sold that #4 or #5 set to Per for 50 dollars...and that's just because that's what I had to pay for them! The #8 isn't that rare in europe is it?

I actually called up some people in the UK and they stated that #8s were difficult to find. At the very least they are next to impossible to find in the U.S., at least where I've looked. I asked my machinist about fabbing some, and he didn't seem terribly interested... I've been wondering whether an easier route to go is to change the primary system to something more standard and machine the shaft interface to fit our cars...

They are quite difficult to find, but i have collected a few sets over the years. I think they would be quite rare in the US, probably because you guys didn't get them on US spec cars.
A set sold on Ebay a few weeks ago for over £600 to someone in the US.

Yes, well that was my goal. Now you have foiled my plans for future misdealings...

I dunno, getting a part that hasn't been put on a car in 30 years seems just as hard to get than a set that came on more recent turbos. Outside the US that is. I sold a whale tail to someone in Japan for $800 (at the time when then dollar was actually valuable) but that just means some people are crazy. Crazyswede found a whale tail on the side of the road waiting for garbage pickup...value is a pretty relative thing.

Well sonett, if you can wait a few more months, the pound should be about = to the dollar. We are at .70 to 1 at the moment, but predictions are that they are gunna be = within the year. In such case, I'd do $500 now, $400 later.

Last I checked the minimum shipping across the ocean for UPS was $70. Airmail is cheaper but a bucket of gravel is pretty heavy and takes up a big box. I am not sure if customs will have any issues with the importation of foreign soil but we can work through that. I currently have 4, 5, and 6 primary gears. let me know and we can proceed. Also what kind of gravel is it? P stone, blue crushed?

Sorry 4,5 and 6 i have plenty. Find me some type 8's and we have a deal. The gravel will be either Lanarkshire red chippings or Derbyshire spa gravel.
