For Sale - 1979 Saab GLE

Please help - my Mother-in-law insists that her her old Saab has some value to someone and she expects me to find it. A mechanic botched a repair to the carb/fuel system and returned what was a serviceable gem of an old car with a few parts on the front seat, not running. It has been garaged since then, 1995. The car is in decent shape overall, upholstery good except for driver's seat, good body, good dash, everything intact. Odometer reads 73,455 miles.

Any input here would be very helpful to me - it is, after all, my MOTHER-IN-LAW.

Since I just purchased a 1979 Saab 900 turbo (exact car except with a turbo and blue, the one I just bought was also stored since '95) that needed a transmission...I can say it is worth it to someone. Where are you located? I'm sure someone would love to buy your car (maybe check out some of the other boards:saabcentral, saabnet...)

this is a 1,000 car if it was running over here.

you can walk down the street in seattle and find the same story.

99's are getting scarcer, but they are not a gold mine. saab's don't retain value. if you want money for this car, you need to find some quirky software engineer or something.

A club member here has a perfect 1979 5 door turbo and he's asking 3,500. i think its been for sale for over a year.

I dunno, hacked up non-runners are a tough sell... Unless somebody really wanted a 5-door...

Ditto. I was just offered a super-clean 80 900T in Cardinal Red w/ Incas, 86K documented, well cared for miles. Busted water pump. $100.

In Northern ID (Sandpoint) is a 77 5-door 99, new paint and motor needs installed. Free.

For most on this list, if it's not raceable, there's not much interest in it...

the only time i'm glad my rally car is a coupe is when i'm looking at pictures of it :)

could you imagine how nice it would be to rally a 5 door? Could put a mini bar where the back seat used to go and still have room for helmets
