I cant see the rust pictures but it does look pretty nice. The 5 doors in black are pretty rare, seems like they were always anthracite grey or cardinal red in turbo.

Yes, the concept of complimentary/contrasting colors hadn't quite made it to Sweden's designers yet. Like my '75 99. Emerald Green exterior, green seats, green carpet, green door panels and trim.

the pictures don't do much to highlight the rust. But the car does look pretty cool.

Re: Do Want
It's actually a really solid car, I know the owner and have seen it in person. The paint is in kinda bad shape but its original, and I definitely remember some rust spots, but I don't recall any perforation, definitely a very solid car for an '80. He just went through a several month ordeal with some shop in RI attempting to (and failing) replace his head gasket. I think its got a redone head and turbo and whatnot at this point, he has just gotten sick of dealing with it lately apparently.

Yep, over the past few years this car has cost him significantly more than the asking price, I think he is probably a bit fed up. It IS an 80 Turbo after all... they were pretty problematic when brand new.

Mine's been a breeze so far. Should I put it up for $4,000?

Re: Do Want
I've known it's current owner for about 10 years and actually was the chase car on the retrieval mission back in 2007 in Ohio. It's an interesting car but like PaulH said, the current owner is just a bit burnt out on it. He's also a classic VW guy at heart, and I've been urging him to chase those projects that he really wants to get done.
Again, neat car. I often thought about popping that 5 speed badge off and onto my 1992 c900 base.
