I have a project car that I am trying to get rid of and I feel bad about scrapping it before offering it up to someone that could actually use it. As the title says its an 86 900 2 door notchback that I think has around 180k miles on it, I bought it 3 years ago from Jak Stoll in North Carolina because I was looking for a rust free shell, and it is very solid. I've found a spot about the size of a half dollar in the rear drivers side wheel well near the shock but other than that it is extremely rust free. The car was in bad need of a repaint when I got it so I stripped it down and was going to get a pro paint job but then realized how expensive they are so decided to try my hand at the roll on rustoleum paint job. It turned out pretty well all things considered but obviously its not perfect. I can get closer pictures of anything if anyone is interested in the car.
Here are some pictures of the car the day it arrived a few years back:
And an updated one in Rustoleum's 'bright freaking red':
The Bad News. It doesn't have a title. I bought it and had it trailered up from NC and Jak Stoll either lost the title or something and now is living off the grid in the desert or something like that. Thats the main reason why I lost interest in the project and why I just want to wash my hands of it. There are companies like broadwaytitle.com that can get new titles for cars like this for a fee but at this point I decided I don't want to throw any more money into the car and simplify my car collection. This car would be good for someone that either wants to go through that process or has a rusty 900 on their hands that they want to reshell. I had thought about that route but decided I just didn't want to deal with that if it were ever a problem. Some states will issue titles for cars over 15 years so if you live in one of those this could work for you. Unfortunately PA was not one of those.
So yeah if anyone wants this car let me know soon, I'm trying to get rid of it within a week but if anyone is serious about wanting it I could hold it a little longer. I have all the glass I took out and have other odds and ends of stuff I will be trying to get rid of as well that I can throw in if you want. If no one wants it I'm just going to junk it but I feel bad since its a nice rust free shell from the south. But I also realize that not everyone loves the firetruck red but you could always haul it away and roll on a different color

If you were interested in it I could certainly hold it for a bit, did you just get another one or just too full at the house at the moment? As I said its been sitting for the past 3 years so a little more time wouldn't put me over the edge, I'm just trying to clean house a bit and got fully motivated to get rid of it in the past week or so. I'd much rather you use it then see it get turned into soda cans and actually thought to offer it to you guys when I saw pictures of Ethan's SPG getting shot, sure does look a lot like a repainted '86 SPG to me

Yeah, the red with the black stripes, black window and windscreen trim, and black accents in the Soccerballs looks sweet.
I mean sure, it's not blue, but it still looks nice.... 8)

Don't let this http://saabrally.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2073 happen to your rust-free notchback!
The kind of dirty that doesn't wash off

Maybe someone could take them both to create a reverse Saab 90 (09?).

I had a guy come look at it and he's trying to figure out a way to get it hauled to his house but I haven't heard anything in a bit so I'm not sure how thats going. If that falls through I can get some more pics in case you or anyone else is interested.

Re: Free 1986 900 Notchback Shell
Final bump.
The guy that came to look at it didn't think it would work so here is one last hail mary if anyone wants to have this car, if not its hopefully getting hauled away by the weekend/early next week unless anyone speaks up. Heres some pics from yesterday including the only rust I've found on the car.

Re: Free 1986 900 Notchback Shell
Wow! Hmmm, I need to do some math here. nice car, don't crush it! FYI if you register in Maine and the car is 15 years old no title is needed!

Guess I forgot to update this thread, Delorean and PaulH came by and picked it up a few weeks ago so it has gone to a good home.
