Well, it was made to survive tsunamis. So when the tsunami arrives you just say, "Umm, please Mr. Tsunami, give me an hour to take these huge pontoons off my roof and attach them to the side of my truck."

Then you just float along merrily!

Hot rodder Rick Dobberton built an amphibious rv that used an old milk tanker as the main body. Then you can use the tank as the living area. Starting with a submarine, and putting wheels on it , makes for a better concept than adding floats to an existing vehicle.

This contraption was built 4 blocks from my house.

I saw the milk tanker twice in the 90's. Once heading south on the interstate near Wilmington Delaware and another time later in LA. I heard they never did very well in the water, multiple rescues and eventually gave up.

Every so often they just fill the oil and check the gas.

Its made out of oil barrels, so I guess you could easily store enough fuel.

Sven99 gave me the leads on these.
Doug S. was a master tech at Scanwest autosport. He seems to be getting out of the Saab scene.
