Re: WANTED-Early C900 child restraint
So the child just bounces around in the sealed off back seat?
I have never seen that before, if you find one be sure to throw up some better photos!

So it just keeps unrestrained kids from doing a faceplant into the dash during a crash?

Ha! That's one I've never seen before.
Re: WANTED-Early C900 child restraint
There's actually a guy that sells old SAAB parts at the carlisle swap every year in May that had one of these out the past few years, I don't think it ever sold. If he's there this May and the price is fair I'll pick it up for you.

I would appreciate that Luke thankyou. Will let you know if i do happen to find one beforehand, but probably unlikely.
The restraint does appear to be something for un seatbelted kids in the rear. I know 1980 99s over here in the UK did not have rear seatbelts so this may be the case for very early 900s too, so that would maybe explain why it was produced. Or maybe for 900s if you did not have a middle lap belt fitted.

I believe it is spring loaded with a pivot at the bottom so when you hit the brakes and the kid flies forward it acts like a spring board and launches said child into the back window with equal but opposite force. It instills the message "STOP MESSING ABOUT WITH YOUR SISTER!"

Re: WANTED-Early C900 child restraint
There was one of these at the Hazelton PA junk yard about 6 months ago, but it had a bite mark or some such taken out of the back... It's an odd bit for sure. I have one of these for a 9000 that incorporates an armrest into a similar approximately 2 foot upright piece that separates the rear from the front.
Honestly though... how bad are your kids if you need this thing? My mom used to yell at us that if we didn't settle down and stop fighting, shed pull the car over and start beating. It only came to that once or twice though

Re: WANTED-Early C900 child restraint
My parents always extended the "Safety Arm" to keep us from doing a header into the dash. My PopPop had an old DeSoto wagon that had no belts at all. In the early 70s when I was born, most people were driving late 50s and early 60s cars. The new fangled 70s cars weren't something everyone could afford.
Saab did make a dog cage partition that went behind the seats. If your kids are totally off the chain, that may suit them better, and would be easier to find...

LOL! My mom had one of those in her Volvo wagon. I remember someone riding in the back and barking through the gate.
