1980 900 Turbo 5 door - $7500

Postby Paddan » Wed Jul 24, 2013 11:44 am

(Again) selling my meticulously maintained time warp survivor. 46,500 miles, October '79 build. First place Carlise Import '13 C900s and recently featured in Hooniverse. Completely stock and in excellent condition. Original paint and interior, OEM accessory rear mud flaps, blue sisal mats, locking gas cap; dealer installed body side moldings. Tool kit, jack in bag, unused spare, owner’s manuals and sales literature all there. 2 year old Michelin TRX tires mounted and balanced on original rims. Everything works including A/C, heat, Blaupunkt analog AM/FM cassette, gauges, clock, heated front seats and interior lights. Turbo spools without smoke, shifts smoothly through all gears, drives tightly, looks crisp and needs nothing. Will include 2 NOS TRX wheels from Jason, an uninstalled 1983 Sport & Rally steering wheel in excellent condition, extra rear headrests and large period SAAB dealer flag with car. I have to take pictures next week and will send if you are interested.

I saw the car at Carlisle.... it's awesome. Wish I could have it. I hope someone buys it and takes care of it the way it's been taken care of for the past ~35 years.

Thank you Geoff. I should have said that the car is located in Northwest New Jersey.

Ha - I don't have anything in the can right now - want to detail it again - but go to Hooniverse and search Saabs Run the show at Carlisle and you will see it. It was also at SOC 11 - it is in the NYSOC pictures as well as my profile "Paddan" at SL.

Didn't you buy this car just a couple of years ago? If it's the same one I'm thinking it is (aquamarine blue), I spoke with the previous owner before you got it. I wanted it then and wish I could have it now - too bad I'm downsizing. It was the original motivation to look for the oldest 900 that I could find, eventually leading me to purchase the '80 turbo that I'm driving now. It's not 46k mile 5-door, but I guess it's the next best thing, right? Good luck with the sale! Great price!

If I'm not mistaken, here are some pics of your car (downloaded them to my work computer a while back to drool over when I should be working):

Nice, I had the same year and color for a while back in the early 90's. Mine didn't have the inner tail lights though and I switched the trx wheels out for some Incas but otherwise its a ringer. Yeah, hope somebody takes good care of that one.

Just noticed the early cruise control. I have one of those round stalks. Is the wiper stalk round as well?

Awesome car!

Good eye on the cruise stalk, I didn't notice that.

What's with the UF 80 printed on the emissions / tuneup decal on the left inner fender? What market was UF? I don't have a good picture of that label on my '79 and can't remember what it said.

Cruise was a dealer accessory and works perfectly. I'd imagine UF stands for US Federal Specification. I have to take a closer look at that. It is a US spec car in any event.

Dang wish I had that in my '80. Also where did you get those floormats? Are those original?
