WANTED: SAAB Accessory Skidplate for 900 street car

Postby SAABMaven » Tue Jun 12, 2007 8:20 am

Am asking here because one or more of you may have used the factory accessory skidplate before upgrading to something better.

This is for my wife's 900. The roads in Vermont are so bad that it _does_ come in handy. I'm not speaking of the gravel roads which are fine; but of the incessant Summer yearly reconstruction of tarmac roads that don't need it, with debris from grinding, hard lips, curb cuts that go down nine inches...

To picture it, think of Middlebury, VT (South Burlington Boutique Zone); your future Bergen County, New Jersey... if and when they ever finish construction of the jughandles!

Thanks!
Rob

I have one that I am not using right now but I don't want to get rid of it. However, we can use it for a template to make a new one...or I think you can buy a new one from the saabsavior for about $125.
I am the 73%

Big or adequate?

Postby Krasch » Wed Jun 13, 2007 12:20 pm

Are you looking for the big aluminum one (left) or the smaller one that does an adequate job under most conditions (right)?

Hi Tim !!!

Hope this finds you well.

I meant that huge slab of aluminium on the left.

Hey, the car that this is supposed to go on, is in Princeton, at Andrews. I'm supposed to pick it up next month. Anywhere near you?

Cheers
Rob

Andrews of Princeton

I live about 110 miles north-northeast of Princeton. Straight north of Cloquet about 10 miles.

Look up Bear Trap Junction in Saginaw, MN on your map program.

The picture larger skid plate is going on my '87 900 as it will be my Winter Beater and Winter Rally Car.

Pretty cool, int'it. Even cooler than a Bra.

A former colleague had a leather Bra on his jetta and was pissed off at me for calling it a Bra.

'It's a nose protector!', he said.

Whatever.

I have a few of those giant aluminum ones on the left too, there is someone around PA who must have recommended them to his customers, cause I have found 2 on junk yard cars. The things do work great on the road! Parking blocks, drive ways, yumps, no damage ;)

Rob,
I think some folks at SAABCentral are working on placing an order for these with SAAB Savior (they were out of stock and needed a minimum of 12 to make more). I think its going down soon so get in on that! :-)

the same group buy is running on TSL, check it out over there. I am pretty sure they will be doing a new run of these in short order.
