wanted.. older style hub!
my 79 900 gle is in need of a new front hub, I have already done the upgrade to 81-87 hub/rotor a couple of years ago.. Due to a loose axle nut I've destroyed my wheel bearing and hub. I have the knuckle with newly pressed in bearing, i just need that lonely lil hub. please let me know what ya got. thanks. aaron. located in oregon

What happened to your old wheel flange that you are unable to reuse it?

You need the 81-85 non vented rotor hub, correct? There are 2 of these at my local pick-n-pull on an 87 base model 900, and an 84 base model 900. What's your offer, I can grab one & ship it for you if you can make it worth my while!

I do think a BASE 87 should be right. If it's an S or a turbo, it should have the vented hubs and won't work.
And yep... That's mushroomed, no way to use that really. You could probably knock the mushroom head off with a bench grinder but that may cause other issues.

The bearing race is still on it and needs to come off...common. looks like a little time with a stone could have the end cleaned up.

Getting the lower race off is easy enough, you can get a small slice going it with a dremel and strike it with a cold chisel, the race will crack and it's off. Other option is to use a 2-jaw puller, there are 2 indentations in the hub that make it so you can use a good 2 jaw puller to make the race slide up and off. - the ones they sell a the harbor freight work well for this, once you make the jaws a little thinner on a bench grinder. the real issue here is that the hub is mushroomed at the top. You could *probably* get away with cleaning that up in the bench grinder and re-using it.

I think I would reuse that one, for what it's worth.

No way, that thing is toast. The bearing fit is gone- notice the textured pattern on the bearing surface? That is from the inner seat spinning on the flange/hub. You could turn the whole thing down and find a non-standard bearing to fit the new smaller inside diameter, but this isn't a rare hub he is looking for. I've got one or two I could press out.
Acejed, If I get a chance this weekend, I can press it out for you.

Ahh, I was kind of confused what I was looking at, I thought it was just damaged at the end.
