A friend of a friend has a caged '78 99 3dr that he wants to get rid of. No drivetrain that I'm aware of, some boxes of parts.
Was a rally car, logbook was lost.
Cage is 1.5" diameter tubing built by Burt from Union 7 in PA.
Originally built by Jerry Sweet. Seth (Crazyswede) owned it for a little while and we did a rallycross or two in it. He could probably give better details. Might have S&R springs and rally-valved Bilsteins still, skidplate, etc.
It has been stored indoors since he got it. I think it has some rust underneath, not sure how much.
Should be pretty cheap.
Located in MA (I think)

Re: Caged 99 shell
Jerry Sweet sold the car to John Groo back in......2002 timeframe? The car had been rolled but wasnt too badly tweaked. The car came with a built up 8v engine and a 4 speed crash box. Groo bought it for the transmission and worked out some deal for the engine to go to Mike white. I picked up the rolling shell with some odds and ends. At some point in time the transmission became Mike White's and still lives on in his car. I put an 8v and 5 speed in the car and used it for a few rally cross events but never had the time...money...or space to do much else with it. I was always putting free transmissions in...one of them had the chains explode and they took out the front of the transmission. The final blow was in a rallyx with Geoff where it stopped going forwards...I don't remember what the failure was but it was enough so it went home on a trailer. Eventually I gave it away for the price of "You come and get it" to probably the person who has it now who should likely offer it for the same amount of "You come get it".
The shell is tired and had quite a few events on it. The cage is no longer anywhere close to legal and it is very basic...likely ok for hill climbing rules. It probably needs a fair amount of body work by this point in time and would probably best be considered for ice racing, hill climbs, or lemon racing. To turn it back into a stage rally car would likely require way too much time and money for what you will end up with. It still had the rally springs and bilsteins in it I believe.

This is what it looked like back in 2006:
My recollection is that at some point Snakes Malone stole the hood which is now riding around on Snakes Malone's old car which was also up for sale recently. Not sure I remember what hood is on this car now.

Hey Matt,
Send me your email address and/or phone number so I can forward that on if you want. The last I heard the car was in Ashby, MA, so not too far away.

Unless they did something to it I would imagine the price would be free as long as you come and get it.
