TE05 wanted for a T3 replacement

I have one hanging around that is in reasonable condition & should work well. Keep in mind though, the one I have is used. Minimal shaft play, but 20 year old seals. I would not expect it to be entirely 100% smoke free unless you put a seal kit in it, these used T3's & TE05's are not spring chickens anymore.

In your car, last I saw it I felt like a TE05 would be a good match for your car. The only turbos that directly fit these cars are the 2 turbos they came with, the TE05 12-b and the T3. Both of these can be upgraded for better flow as well. I believe Hutch here had/has an upgraded TE05 at one point?

Once you talk about an entire turbo upgraded you start talking about fabricating parts. There are a lot of options out there in the world of the T3 flange... One of the ones I like is the TD04HL16t with the straight exhaust flange, which is almost a direct bolt on except for a bunch of "details" related to oil/water feed, down-pipe, moving the battery, and an adapter O-ring. Original equipment on the volvo 850R models.

Yup I've got a TE05 that has been fitted with a 16g wheel, this was before the market was flooded with cheap Chinese T3's and the availability of GT series turbos. Overall I really like its powerband, basically the same spool up as a stock 12b but with better mid-range. I rarely if ever rev above 5000rpm on a c900, mostly because there isn't really power there, so its a great fit for the powerband I'm looking for. I guess in theory low/mid range torque is what destroys these transmissions so keep that in mind but again I'm not dumping the clutch, etc.. so I've had good luck so far. I believe you are also in PA, I had it done by Blouch Turbo in Lebanon but there are many options out there.

I'm about the swap TD04's in my 9-3 and am going to look into what it would take to get the T25(?) pattern drilled into the c900 manifold as I think that would be a great turbo for most street c900's. But then you're talking custom DP flange, oil lines, etc.. to make it work so there are trade offs as with anything. But especially the T3, and somewhat the TE05, is using vary ancient technology by today's standards so a lot of the modern turbos are appealing. Its just a question of if you want to spend 1/3 of what the car is worth for a few extra HP and what drivability characteristics you're looking for IMO....

I can fabricate some, the car has Trionic 5.2 and I redid the entire wire harness (its an 85)
What I want is a bit more torque down low so when i step on the gas in a corner to correct I don't have to downshift.

Thinking the TE05 with new seals and perhaps a rebuild and a FMIC plus a bit of T5 tuning should get me where I want to be.

I am going to fab in a FMIC with out cutting tow hooks and a fairly short tube run.
Will require mods to the radiator support, and I already did the AC delete.

Yes, the GT 28RS bb (as in ball bearing) is a disco potato. I just installed one in my red hill climb car. I let Delorean have a ride and a drive. Now he wants one. works great ! need I say more?

Pretty sure thats what Luke was running in the turbo car...I think we ran around 12 pounds of boost? I am sure Luke will chime in...but there was plenty of power and the boost came on fast and strong.

Yep, that's what the turbo rally car had, about the same or even quicker spool up as a TE-05 but a ridiculous amount more top end than the T3. Normally 12 PSI was more than enough to make the car a handful. One year we accidently had the 16 psi map in the car at STPR, and I think Seth and I broke a couple stage records for G5 before the fun ended.
