Wanted: springs from a 91 to 94 convertible

Postby Scott » Tue Jun 16, 2015 1:24 am

Hi all,

My 86 notch sits really high on stock springs, does anyone have any from a 91 to 94 convertible or similar? I think this would lower me a bit without being extreme and would ride well.

I'm motivated by lack of money, so I figured maybe someone here has a set in the pantry or under the bed they would let go for cheap.

I'm also up for discussion on what works well on the year. I want a nice daily driver, not a super stiff bouncy ride, but I'm open to persuasion.

Thanks, this post also motivated by insomnia, so forgive any weirdness.
I wish my car had winter mood technology.

you could cut a coil off of each spring...both lowering the ride height slightly and increasing the spring rate a little bit. This mod would cost you nothing but labor.

what are you running for shocks?

I've got Gas adjust shocks on the front, and not sure on the back. I'm not married to them, as its not legal in this state yet.

Does cutting the springs introduce any driveability issues?

Thanks!

cutting the springs will increase their spring rate (they will get stiffer) and it will lower your car. If you wanted to try this route I would just cut a single coil loop off of each spring and see how it feels. (removed from the car of course).

Something to think about... have you or anyone else here successfully done this on a C900?

I cut some SPG springs that we put in my friends 900T, it was much lower than we expected so take it slow to begin with, but the ride wasn't too terrible all things considered.

I cut the coils that are in my car now because they were too tall and not intended for a saab.
