exhaust manifold wanted..

Postby hotrodlarry » Sat Jul 21, 2007 9:26 am

I'm looking for an exhaust manifold. I believe the one I have on my race car is off a late 70's 99. it's a 2-piece unit and I need the piece that bolts up to cylinders #2 and 3. Mine is cracked and has been repaired, but it cracked again last night at the race track.I will try to get pics of the piece I'm looking for if it helps.

Does your class allow you to run a header?

there's a slight chance I might have one of those at my parent's house in MA. But I won't be going there for a while and I'm not sure where to look, let alone if I even have one... I say header!

I think I have a used 8v 900 header kicking around, If I can find it, I could sell it......... even though I'd prolly wish I didn't someday. Also sure we have the two piece stock manfold for the 16v if thats what you need, would be the easy quick fix. Southwest VT 802-867-4486

I'm not sure if that is a 900 or 99 manifold, the late 70's manifold were one piece logs, the earlier ones were 2-piece and I don't recall what the early 900 ones were.

there was one of those on a 99gl? (i think) it was in one of the local junkyards (luke knows the car cause he took the windsheild! ), it was cracked right off on the one runner though. i believe those are for the cars with the air injection, think the one in the yard was a mid 70's car. oddly my 99 came with a header pipe for one of those manifolds...doesnt fit my car at all.

Yeah, the header pipe bolts up to this manifold no problem. I ordered a header pipe for a 78 99 through Bosal and it had a 90 degree bend in it. The pipe on the car has almost a 40 degree sweep to the back of the car. it's a weird combination of parts I have/

these manifiolds came on ferderalized pre 78 (and some after 78 with air injection) b-motors. if that makes sense. I'm not sure if the D-Jet or carbuerated models had them, as i've never owned those models.

the one off the n/a 16 v is similar but will not work.

its called the two piece down pipe 99 manfiold, most old saab guys will know what your talking about if you say it like that. I would imagine the ones without air inection would have better flow because you dont have to plug the hole with anything and it would have less turbulance.
