Hi everyone, I am just chumming the waters to see if anybody would be interested in a 1978 Saab 99 the car is originally from California about 2 years ago so it has pretty much no rust, the paint is oxidised and I started painting the rear end of the car in that 70's era saab orange. I really don't need the car and was wondering if anybody had any need for it? Anyone looking for a good solid base for a rally car?

It's the 5 door with oxidized paint, Not my combi coupe

Saab 99 5 door hatchback in Vermont
5 door would be a beast of a rally car... but would make a great service vehicle. I'd love to do a replica of the 5 door SAAB used to service the works team... Safari rack on top for tires and shelves built into the back to store parts. Plus, bend and axle and need one at service?.... Steal it off the service vehicle!

The car isn't in too bad of shape, the interior is worn, headliner has been tacked back up, the front seats have most of the cushion gone, the rear seats have some minor tears in the fabric but nothing serious that you couldn't really re-upholster.
I orginially bought the car for the 4 speed to put in my coupe, I swapped the whole drivetrain. The automatic I took out of my coupe only had 80,000 miles so that is what the 5 door has in it now but the odometer reads 157K.
I really don't know what I'd take for it, I'd like to keep the soccerball wheels, but I have a nice set of steel wheels with chrome hubcaps I could put back on it. I suppose if someone wanted to give $800 or best offer I might consider it.
I was actually thinking of turning this into a rally car but I think a 900 might be easier to build. (But the 99 is definetly makes a cooler rally car)

Here are some updated pictures of it with new paint

I thought the old paint wasn't that great and wanted to protect the rust free body from possible rust so I gave it the old rust-oleum treatment,
actually came out well
