Guys Help me
What the diference. I found 2 cars one with the 1985 cc engine and 160bhp and 0ne with 1971 cc engine and 175 bhp.
I suppose need a car between 88 and 93.
Both of them are 88 to 93
Witch one is the best conserning the engine block (waterpump, pistons, crank) since they are both with turbo and 16v head

These are both Saab 900's between 1988 and 1993? I have never heard of any Saab engine having 1971cc's. 1985 sounds correct for any Saab 2.0 litre engine. The only differences available for engines in the USA for that time period were 8v 2.0 litre, 16v 2.0 litre non turbo, 16v 2.1 litre non turbo, and 16v 2.0 litre turbo.

This is what the car dealer (It's a SAAB dealer acctualy) told me by phone. Both car are located in Germany and what is written here is written on the car MOD paper. It's mentioned also the KW of each engine (160 and 175 bhp)
Anyway I'll choose the one with the 175 bhp obviously. Any link to see details for the engine? I'm consern about the water pump location
Thanks

Re: 1st SAAB rally car in Greece. ..........I hope
Some engines had different turbo controllers (APC) which increased output form 160 to 175, but the engine internals were identical. Turbochargers were changed in 90-93 to different units, but it did not contribute to more horsepower, just driving characteristics.
All of the 16v Turbo engines 85-93 were more or less identical. There were some changes to the cylinder heads (85 only), oiling , tensioner design...etc but nothing major that I can think of...
I think in the Europe they were out before 85...
Does anybody know how long the 8v B- engine was kept around in Europe or did it disappear like it did here in '81?

I've never heard of a 1971cc engine. Typically the power differences are due to the APC (computer for the turbo), distributor with a different curve (or different vacuum advance), and higher pressure fuel pressure regulator (2.8bar vs. 2.5bar). You can get a stock engine up above 200hp pretty easily.
All waterpumps are belt driven from '81 onward.
Are you getting the '88-'93 so you'll have the later brakes?

I didn't see the car yet. It's on way from Germany to Greece. The dealer told me that is a MY 5/88. For your information I pay 1.300 euros + 400 for the transportation.
As soon as I dissmandle the car I can give to everyone anything he needs. except engine

The car in those pictures looks like it was hit in the driver's side front fender. Also that seems like a lot of money for that car in the condition it is in with its mileage.

Nah it just looks like the hood alignment is off or something.. its off on the passenger side too. C900s could be quite rare in Greece, hence the price tag, I have no idea.. might be like finding a cheap Land Rover here.

There is a suspicious looking paint difference in the middle of the drivers side fender. It showed up in 2 photos so I figured it was actually on the car. Hard to tell for sure though.

You are right. The front fender is been hit, but I don't care about. I'm intresting just for the mechanical parts. The price......is the normal price for this car in Europe, I think !!!
It's mileage... My first consern is the correct engine I'm looking for. In any case since I'm building a rally car I'll check / change everything in the motor.
Something new for the project. My new ECU finally will be the Halteck F6X instead of a DTA S40

I just receive the car from Germany. Clear body that I'm very sad to throw it away. Nice riding, no noises, lot of torque, nice brakes.
For the shake of truthnes
You are right, but the Germans are crazy. Here they are the German documents.
and the Saab Manual
The car has no catalytic converter, so 175 bhp.
Does anybody knows if the front doors are ok for the 99. Seams to be the same and also the hood and the front windscreen. Is good to have some spares for the rally car.

The doors will fit. In my opinion it would be nice to have the power mirrors too. A bit more work since you have to run the wire bundle and gasket/boots. Unfortunately the windscreen and hood are different and will not interchange.
Here in the States a good windscreen is very hard find.

I'm back again.
Any source for the wing extensions ?? I ask a quote from RP Glasfiber and they gave me the unbeleivable price of 1700 euros for a set + VAT + shippment. The equivalent set for a Ford Escort MK II costs in the local market 177 euros.
Maybe the set is build from titanium or something. Jesus......
I'll try to post some photos soon..If I've time
As I said I've a complete 900 turbo for parts. If someone need something write a PM. Everything is for free just for you guys (for the help so far) exept the shippment cost.
