Yep, we had a marathon weekend which resulted in a lot of things getting accomplished in preparation for Black River Stages in just 10 days!
Some of us stayed at the shop until about 5:30 in the morning trying to make some headway. I slept under a furniture blanket in back of the van. Fun times!

Re: '75 99 Rally Car Restoration
I had some concerns about the front springs. On the jack with the suspension at full droop, it kinda seems like the springs want to fall out of the car. Might not be a bad idea to put a limit strap on it.

It looks like Groo is doing upside-down pushups in Mongo's first picture above.
The kind of dirty that doesn't wash off
Re: '75 99 Rally Car Restoration
Well Seth came out again for the final push and we pretty much got the car where it needed to be - there are still lots of little odds and ends and we are waiting for a 2nd set of harness's to come but overall things are looking good for Black River Stages in just a few days!
We also did a full alignment and got the fresh tires mounted on the minilites.
The fully assembled engine bay:

Looks fantastic. Excellent preparation as usual.
How does that alignment tool work? Looks like sharks with frickin lasers on their heads.

Holy Crap, I guess I should beg my boss for a day off this Friday.
I hope he lets me,... he's a DICK!
Looks Great, but I really iked the Soccerball wheels on this car.

Re: '75 99 Rally Car Restoration
That was the goal. We were running stock timing on stock points on 93 octane fuel. We are finding out that the engine was run prior with 105 octane race fuel and very advanced ignition. We also need to install a more powerful ignition. We had fun with the car as it is but it sounds like the engine can wake up a bit more

Re: '75 99 Rally Car Restoration
Is the compression stock, what was done to it to take advantage of the 105?
Those photos are awesome.

Re: '75 99 Rally Car Restoration
Engine has forged high compression pistons, bored over to 91mm and head shaved to the max. I didn't build the engine but best guess is around 11:1 or so. Not that high but the 8V does not have very good chamber design, so good gas is needed... With the 8500 rpm cam, MSS race header and the side draft webers, the pull is fairly impressive though!
