Plus then your car doesn't look like redneck roundy-round racer.

I have Corbeau Forza's in the other car, but they don't have the head, neck, and shoulder support. They are not Hans friendly, and I think they lost their FIA rating for some reason.

Some of the more comfortable looking containment seats are over 1k. I don't have that kind of cash laying around, so the Kirkey setup at 550.00 looks appealing.

I see alot of these in hillclimb cars. But i wouldn't go there, except for a passenger at autox, or an instructor.

I think that's roughly what the it car we picked up has, it's not great. Freedom light though :dunno:

How about these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Sparco-EV ... f9&vxp=mtr

That's for a pair, I know no head restraint business, but supposed to be FIA approved and dirt cheap if they are. I may take a chance on those for the itb car myself.

Eh, nevermind, seems like they're probably just counterfeit seats: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/ ... 474/page1/

Though if they were when they came I'm pretty sure you could very easily get your money back from ebay, they're pretty strict about counterfeits.

My Corbeau Forza seats were almost 800 for the pair (with sliders) 10 years ago.

that price did seem just a bit too good to be true.

Somehow I expect this to be Chinese junk for this price.

What about something like this, the price seems more believable, and it has a 3 inch v band outlet.

Eh, I've heard even the chinese turbos can be pretty decent, at least for a little while. There are some interesting cheap chinese TD04's in Saab format for cheap, they even sell ones that are upgraded to 19t's. One of those with a volvo exhaust housing would be a near direct bolt-up to a c900 manfold, and make way way more power than you'd ever want in a c900.

Yeah, I have seen turbos for 250.00 on ebay.

At that price I figured they were knockoffs.

If you see one like you described,... link me.

Ouch, that sucks that counter-fitting is going on with race seats. That makes me want to look over the seats I'll be riding in more carefully.
However, before seeing the link to the grassroots forum I looked at the Ebay ad and got a little skeptical when I saw that the seller's other items included a $20 CD that teaches you to make money on Ebay, a five back of Gerber onesies, and a handful of Kinkoman soy sauce packets...

If there is one place not to cheap out on when building a race vehicle its in the safety department. If you have to wait a little longer to either find a good used name brand FIA seat or spend a little more cash to get a new one then do it. No point in building the car, piling it into a tree during a hill climb and then incurring a life of horrid medical conditions due to crappy safety gear.

Sure my motoX boots cost $300...but I figure an ankle rebuilt and a year to learn to walk again probably cost slightly more.

I hear you,

But Im currently hillclimbing in a car that has entry level Corbeau Forza seats. The sliders are a bit hoakey . I have been going on the notion that any fixed mount seat with more head, neck and shoulder support has to be better than what I am currently doing. Plus the fact that I'll likely to begin using a Hans with this car.

Kirkey is a reputable company. I think if they were hurting or killing drivers that might not be true.

Most of the Kirkey seats are mounted in track cars...I have seen them in hill climb cars. If I were you I would see if I could do a lap in one or at least sit in one before I bought it. I still think you will be a lot happier in a more traditional rally based seat.

I run a Kirkey aluminum seat and often drive my car 100+ miles to events. Was not terribly comfortable until I added a lumbar cushion. Now, no complaints. I did run some 1" foam pipe insulation around the rib supports for more comfort though. They fit under the skin.

Plus, I used the original seat rails and fabricated seat mounts out of scrap metal. Was able to retain the sliding mechanism and I love that!
