99 Street
Re: 99 Street
All the info sounds good but no dice. I can't even find a "Radac" that is still open. Can anyone tell me the dimensions of just the core of the radiator? I have a possible lead on a generic site but I don't have the radiator with me to measure. Thanks!!
Re: 99 Street
Alright I have some measurements of the stock core - 20 and 7/8ths X 12 and 7/8ths X 2 and 1/8th
The Radiator.com warehouse only goes back to 1977 for Saab and the measurements they have are 21 X 13.25 X 1.25. Its a double row style for $221.00 which I don't think is too bad for a brand NEW one.
I'm pretty sure they are the same and will work but can anyone confirm if the radiators changed over the years? I saw a post someone saying they got thicker but I'm not sure. Thanks for the help!

Re: 99 Street
Over the years I have seen several variations of the 99 radiator. Up through 76 or 77 the cores seemed thicker and had the single wire fan switch on the outlet pipe, later units used a thinner, finer finned unit w/ the two wire fan switch mounted on the outlet side tank.
A year or so ago I bought a NOS RADAC radiator off ebay for about $100, I also have a NOS Blackstone I bought the same way.
It's possible that a thorough cleaning will get the crud out of the bottom of yours, with the upper outlet, crap tends to accumulate...
Also, aren't there some onthe list who have installed 900 rads in thier cars?

Re: 99 Street
I have heard of the 900 rad swap, but hear that you need to hack up your front end a bit to fit it. You could get a custom aluminum rad made to your own specs, but that is costly. Even in our throw away society, there are still rad repair shops that can repair or recore the one you have.

Re: 99 Street
What Luke did IIRC was have 900 end tanks brazed on to a (99 or 99-sized) radiator. John (16vT_99 or whatever) had one for sale a little while ago in the FS threads.
Re: 99 Street
Jordan, What year car did your radiator in your '71 come from? It looks like a later model as the coil is mounted on it. Do you happen to know the thickness of it? I have a lead on a new radiator but I think its the thinner/later year '77 model. I'm not sure if it will fit my car but its really my only option at this point.
Thanks for the help.

Re: 99 Street
Any decent 99 radiator that you can round up will fit. Thick or thin doesn't matter. They all mount the same way and there's plenty if room on all NA and non AC cars.

It's one of those RADAC radiators, its made like a later one with the two prong fan switch, but I'm not sure of the width. I can measure if you need me to.

Re: 99 Street
Josh is right, any and all 99 radiators will fit the basic mountings, though switches and attachments may vary.
I just used my NOS Radac radiator and none of the mounting holes for the coil or hot start injection switch fit. I just drilled some new ones....

Job relocation forces sale:
Hasn't been run since last fall. If interested I'll try to turn it over for you. I love this car but I'm moving to Michigan and have to get it out of the driveway in 3 weeks. Great body, virtually rust free.
Looking for $2k with 3 sets of wheels. Brand new VDO gauge clusters (never used) plus oil pressure gauge / Rota RB wheels negotiable.

Re: 99 Street
The last thing I figured out about the car was that the temp gauge must be wrong because I got one of those electronic temp sensors and it was always right around 190 degrees. I just over ride the fan with a toggle when in traffic. It hasn't been started in a while though so it may need some attention...
