oh man we had an awesome time! Thanks for taking the time out from working on the car to explain rallying to us guys that don't know how it all works! I wish we could have stayed longer. How did you guys make out? Everyone finish in one piece?
You guys have some serious dedication and it was great to finally put some faces to all these names who have been helping me out. Nice color scheme on that ride, Jordan! Suspension looks so nice I envy!

We didn't meet but I got to see your car briefly when you let us (orange '79 VW Rabbit) pass on the way to SS4. Your 99 looks nice!

The head gasket set I ordered ended up being for (i think) an early H motor - '79 +. Wrong. I can't seem to source a B motor head gasket anywhere. Please help!!! Willing to pay extra if you can ship it overnight to me - I took off two days of work for this and now I won't have it done. Whoever said patience is a virtue was understating...

If ANYONE has a gasket set - 207. 522. 6337 - Jon
The second picture is the correct gasket... note the larger timing chain cover area.

F/S - 1979 engine gasket set. best offer :ranting:

Wow I just got one like 2 years ago no problem , I did a quick search of the usual places and came up with the same thing you did...nothing. I'd actually call around to your local parts stores and see if they have any in stock. Just do something mid-decade like '76 so there is no confusion. You don't really need the other gaskets other than the main head gasket, use loctite 518 or permatex anerobic sealer for the rest. '79 should be a B-motor no matter what I thought. Even the 900s had B-motors back then...

This place where I randomly bought a replacement dipstick for my 9-5 has all this random vintage stuff. They still seem to have it.

This actually looks to be what you already have :/ Good luck

That looks like a Triumph motor gasket, no?

Thanks Sam - ( first link was the right one btw ) I had been to this website before but forgot what it was. I think I picked up the last one they had in stock but if anyone needs gaskets I think I found another source.

Super 99 Thanks for the offer! wish you were home, good luck in your travels - I know what its like over seas!

I got the head back, bolted up all ready to go and then I noticed a leak. Does anyone know where I can get new coolant hoses? I pinched a hole in the crucial "Y" hose that connects the intake coolant hose to the water pump/ reservoir. I've searched all around this thing is going to be tough...

That is a tough one. They have NLA from Saab since the late 80's? There is Nutcase on Saabcentral who paid Samco to build the tooling and do a limited run. I think he recently had another batch go thru. Geoff did you buy a set? IIRC I thought the cost was pretty high for the 2 pieces (150 usd?+ shipping) They are hand made, reinforced silicone with the Samco name...
My 99t has something the PO did that is pretty trailer park, but it has been working fine. A galvanized water pipe plumbing T, and some new heater hose. Eventually I'll build a Y fitting out of 316 stainless tubing with beaded ends, and attach to some nice hose.

Not sure if the one you need is listed here or not, it looks like this might have been posted a while ago:

I didn't end up buying any. The cost is pretty high and I think I remember him saying that they could be built later if needed. If they're necessary then I'd pay the price, but for now I can get by with what I have.
