Re: Anybody interested in carbon fiber hood/ hatch?

This is the email I got back from Erik. It sounded like Josh was just going to get as many parts as would fit an a crate or two and worry about selling/distributing them when they got here.

Hi!

Sorry for that, the hood cost USD 138 for a normal/standard. i rekommend
that, very light, good for none contact racing, good quality. No ide at
all to have it in kevlar/carbon fibre if you gonna paint it anyway, it`s
not much lighter and cost 3 times more. Just my opinion :)

99 trunk lid is USD 96 for a normal fiberglass, same quality as the hood.

Kind regards
Erik

Well the shipping was going to be around $700 per crate , and that was by boat if I understood correctly...but with enough parts it can still be economical.

The last time I found hoods for our cars they were 900 bucks. I think even after chipping in for shipping, its still not a bad deal. I want a 99 hood and trunk, and a 900 hood, and a trunk for my notchback. (If the make one) . I'd like a set of the 900 headlight covers too. I'm gonna paint it all, so fiberglass will do. The 900 parts can be thin, for my notchback racer. The 99 parts could be a bit heavier. As long as the finish quality is good.

Kinda torn on the fenders for the notchback project..not crazy about the flares, but it may save a bunch of time.

I could use 2 99 hoods (1 light, 1 heavy maybe) and a 99 trunk lid...

I, too, would be interested in these hoods for the 900.
I hope someone is keeping track :)

When Snakes gets back from his LeMons runs I'm sure we'll work out some stuff.

Dang... David and I were gonna make our own, but you can't hardly get a mould and raw materials for what that would cost. I'm considering....

Since Snakes has jumped the lower 48, this probably won't be happening for a while  I still really want a composite hood.
