Anybody interested in carbon fiber hood/ hatch?

Postby allessence » Fri Nov 05, 2010 2:13 pm

I am in the process of getting some price together on a production run of carbon fiber hoods and trunks/hatches for the 900/99 series SAABS.

This is more of a feeler to see if there is enough demand.

I need to get pictures to the Composite guys to get a better estimate.
Okay, so I'm female and like SAAB's go figure. Mind you, I like a good set of strappy sandal's just about as much though they don't take you thru the corners as fast. LOL

I'm interested in a composite hood. Doesn't have to be CF.. price is obviously a big factor, but I'd be reasonable for quality materials/workmanship. Oh for a 99. :-D

I could sure use one for my 99! In fact, I've been looking for one. CF would be cool, but pricey...what about Kevlar? Fiberglass would be OK too...

Okay, since everyone is talking to keep the price down.

I just bought one for my Audi A4 Q and it was 683.00 delivered this included hood pins.

The A4 hood is massive and has the fancy front grill insert. When I called them they took the order and said it would be 4-6 weeks for delivery since they are all made per order.

Here is the website. http://www.eurogearusa.com/index.html

Funny, a few years ago there was a mold for sale for a C900 hood. I think there was only one CF hood produced. It worked as a fully functioning hood (tilted up, etc.) and weighed nearly as much as a stock hood. I saw it once in person.

I think someone has a 99 hood mold

I know that Shane A. has a cf hood from those molds on his 900.

Not crazy about carbon fiber cost. Fiberglass is sufficient for what I would like to accomplish. Kevlar would be a good option as well. If we drove Camaros or Mustangs we could get a hood for 150 bucks. I would like to know the price of a 900 hood and notchback trunklid in fiberglass and I would be interested in a Kevlar hood and trunklid for a 99 .

I could be persuaded to pick up a C900 hood and sedan (2/4dr) trunk in an inexpensive and lightweight material if the cost was good.

I'm planning on rounding up a few of the plastic pieces from Sweden; hood, trunk lid and all 4 fenders. Let me know who wants what and we'll split shipping costs. His name is Eric and he does kevlar too, shoot him an email for prices not listed on the website.

Well I cant understand much of the site. Is his english better than my english? The dollar seems to be okay right now. Did you end up pricing items out with shipping?

Google Translate helps, my computer does Swedish automatically. His english is better than mine.

He's supposed to get back to me with a total cost including shipping for 2 sets of each 900 hood, lid and fenders. I figure I would sell one hood and lid to whoever wanted them and keep the spare fenders for myself.

There's only one pic of a kevlar 99 hood on the website and no price listed. I'd ask him about similar 900 pieces and prices in a quick email. If he has stuff in stock or if he could get it all done soon, we could try to ship together if it was cheaper that way.
