My '75 L had those, as does my 76GL.
I thought all the 99 hatches had them...

If you're talking about the tiny clips into which the screws for the vent grilles go, then my guess is that they're the same as on any c900.

My 77 GL just has a chrome strip that runs down the center of the vent covers. Maybe I've not looked hard enough at every 99 hatchback I've seen.

My dad had a '74 3dr that had the logo on the side vents. My '78 Turbos haven't had them. I've seen a few '78 EMSes and I seem to remember they didn't have them either (memory may be off though). Maybe they didn't have them on 5drs or maybe only up to '76?

I've also seen "CombiCoupe" side vents, maybe only on non-North American models though.

IIRC they were deleted in 1977. I have a pair to go on my turbo one day - hoping the words are visible through vent covers too.

I had one of those shrinking hammers once. But it got so small I lost it.

Seriously though, that looks great! I think if I tried that it would just end up moving the dents around the panel.

I found out why the odometer wasn't working .. Looks like a pretty violent failure. Its completely broken though I could probably JB weld it back in place. The cable was also broken .. anyone seen that happen before?

Fortunately I do have a binnacle out of a 1978 EMS and I wanted to use its tach/clock combo anyway.

I have sent a few gauges to Powl's speedometers shop in Lancaster Pa. They repaired my broken odometer and tested the unit. That was from a C900. It doesn't hurt to call and ask if they can refurbish 99 Instruments too.

That is a good suggestion. I think the original could be repaired even though 3 points on that cast metal mounting are fractured.

more flaming action .. this time to fix the 'oil can' issue in the stretched door due to the collision. after the shrink hammer and flame its firmed up .. I didn't need to use that 900 door after all. Its going to the media blaster in a
week. :) I'll get pictures of it afterwards.

My car is starting to make a metallic rattling sound around 2500 RPM. It comes and goes, sometimes it gets very loud. When I hear it coming in, I've taken it out of gear and rev'ed the engine to still hear it there.

Also, it only seems to show up once the car has been on the road for several minutes. From a cold start I don't hear it until about 10-15 minutes into driving.

I tried to record the sound on my phone, but the rear door fixed windows and the C post windows are now out. The only thing I recorded was AIR rushing everywhere with some engine rev'ing in the back ground.

I hope it is not serious, but it sounds serious.

Ahh what the heck :) If you can tune out the rushing air noise you'll hear the high pitched rattling sound.

My phone only makes AMR files. iTunes, quicktime and VideoLan seem to play it.
