Resuming work on my race car project, had a post on here way back in the day but figured I'd give a little more history on it. This car was a sister to Jack's car from MSS in NY, Jack's car has long since been gone and as far as I know this is the only one left in the nation set up like this (I could be wrong). I have SCCA logbooks dating back to 1978 when it was first raced, my father purchased it in 1982 and towed it back from NY in a 1976(?) Saab 99 EMS. Has been in my family basically since '82. Somewhere along the line my dad sold the car to a friend of his. At the time of sale the car had only two small dents at the bottom of the drivers door, I will be posting pictures very soon hopefully and you'll see what has happened when it left our hands. The car was last raced in 1995 where a roll pin in the trans broke leaving us with only 3rd and 4th gear, car still finished on the podium.
More about the car itself. Front fender flares are brazed on (talk about old school) rear flares are fiberglass. Wheels are magnesium 15x7 wheels. Front brakes have ventilated rotors adapted from some sort of Chrysler product, rears are all stock. 4-piston front calipers. Dual brake master cylinders, MSS swirl tank for the cooling system, Accu-sump, Brake arrestors mounted for front and rear brakes. 4-2-1 header built by MSS, MSS cam, twin weber DCOE-45 side draft carburators, Stock saab performance catalog rear shocks, adjustable pan hard bar, koni adjustables front (red).
Now for the best part, transmission has Straight cut Saab rally gears with interchangeable ratios (lost all of those when my dads barn burnt down). Can get stock turbo ratios and drawings and whatever Jack from MSS has left, will be buying those as I doubt anyone else has a trans that would acept them. Trans is also equipped with an LSD.
I acquired this car in 2008 and started working on it in 2009 when I lost my job, sat since then, and now that I'm working at the family Saab shop I'll be pulling some longer hours to get it back into race trim and fix the body work. Pictures will be posted soon. Car is not for sale, nor are any of the vintage speed parts. Just want to restore this car and preserve some Saab racing history.

Nope, just ran a deep cycle battery, if it was a long weekend at the track he would charge it in between sessions. Hardly any electrical things to power in the car, basically the ignition, brake lights, shift light, and fuel pump. I thought about adding an alternator, but I think I'll keep it vintage.

Wheels are magnesium 15x7's tires are 23x9x15 Goodyear Eagles, slicks of course. Not sure how they measure slicks because I know they are not 23in wide tires

Pretty sure 23 is diameter, 9 is width, and 15 is wheel dia. Hopefully they are not all dried out.

Yes. I believe it's unloaded diameter.

Re: 1970 99 coupe GT3
That was my thought as well, the tires on it are junk, good enough to roll on but that's about it. Very common road racing size and actually not terribly priced new. Like $210/pc but you pay that for some road tires and only get 10k miles out of them and not have nearly as much fun. Used sets can be had from big national racers who heat cycle them and never use them.
