New here but thought this would be the best place to share info. Below is a picture of my car before I started any modifications. I think it had around 94,000 miles on it when I got it home.
First steps that required no money were weight reduction. Stripped out the carpeting, seats, center consol, interior trim panels, rear deck lid, trunk sub floor. Many hours went into removal of the sound deadener/insulation on the floor. I used a gasket scrapper and no heat other than the florida weather. Put it all into a5 gallon bucket and weighed it. 17lbs gone.
Started to feel bad because the metal was perfect. No rust anywhere. But I already have 2 other c900 so progress moved on.

Is that a base model or 900S? I think the 900S came with vented brakes in '87 but I'm not sure.

It a 900s. Old style brakes. 88 was the year for the new brakes and bolt pattern.

'86 and '87 Turbos had the early bolt pattern with vented rotors (special calipers and hubs to make it all work). I've heard the 900S got them for '87 as well but it's been so long since I've seen an '87 900S I can't remember now.

Soon after I cut down the springs because without much in the interior the car was starting to look like it had a body lift. Car currently has a frankenstein exhaust whic is a hodgepodge of pipes. No muffler, no cat, just a single glasspack. It may be the meanest sounding 100 hp I've ever heard.
Pulled the dash and started cutting all the wires for the comfort features. About all that is left in the passenger cabin is the wiring for exterior lighting and wiper controls. Have had to use a sock on my hand as a defroster 3 times already. Not fun.
Trimming out excess metal from the interior with a cutoff wheel. The rear half of the roll cage is nearly complete. Fabricated brackets to use the existing seat rails to mount an aluminum frame race seat. Fed the interior fuel lines through some metal conduit. Fail! Ruptured one of the lines and now it leaks gas into the car. Drove 100 miles last weekend in a puddle of fuel. Atleast I had a fire extinguisher in the car.
Now I'm not sure if I want to find a new fuel line or try to fix the old one. Anyone have fuel lines sitting around?

Here it is sitting on 13" rims with hoosier slicks.
Had to shave the front calipers a couple millimeters. Since then the rub strips are gone and the bumpers are down to their cores.

I just read the thread on your car. Nice! The 13" wheels give me good acceleration out of my N/A for now. Running more tire than motor.
I ran a PDX and I doubt I will do much cone killing after that. Sooo much fun.
My problem right now is the damn shift linkage. It's too sloppy and I need to figure out a solution. Any ideas from the community?

What part is sloppy? The shifter itself or the linkage or both? You could modify the throw of the shifter to tighten that up and replace the rubber isolator on the selector shaft with a universal joint.

There is a lot that can go wrong with those linkages, you need to look and see where the slop is.
Check-
the shifter bushing in the shifter housing
shifter ball, upper and lower
the shift shaft bushing, in the engine bay
Also, be sure someone hasn't replaced the taper pin with a screw or something, and be sure the shifter housing is still bolted to the floor, the shifter alignment is correct and that the shift coupler is tight.

I'm fairly certain that my problem is in the rubber bushing in the linkage. It's likely to be 24 years old. Don't want to spend$ 80 on a new one. Not sure if I used one will be any better.

If it's got the big dogbone rubber coupling like a 9000 you can just wrap a bunch of zip ties around the two halves and cinch them together, good as new. The studs tear out of the rubber and don't hold tight, you just need to hold the metal pads together.
Hose clamps work too, but I usually do like 6-8 medium zip ties.
