Fixed the blower motor today...since the car has the automatic climate control it does not have a resistor pack. It does have a crappie little junction box that was horribly corroded. I ended up cleaning the junction piece but had to cut off oneconnector and replace with spades. Works great now.

HAHA just kidding. Silly Saab repair person your feeble attempts at repairing a mass of corroded electrical connections will only allow for proper system operation for 4 hours after your repair. Should you attempt to use such system 12 hours later you will get to enjoy another cold commute into work.

Hmm maybe I'm confusing the issue you're having, did you replace (or at least fiddle with) with thing?

I had a fan issue, can't remember if it was full speed or low speed, but I replaced it and cured the problem. Its basically the ACC version of the resistor pack which made me think thats what you messed with, its expensive which is a pain but it may be what is causing your no fan speed issue. From what i remember you have to take the glove box out and its sort of tucked away in there.

I have not touched that part yet. Right now there doesn't seem to be a need to. When I got into the airbox the first thing I did was to turn the car on and then spin the motor by hand...the motor did not start up...and I thus ruled out the immediate possibility of a flat spot on the armature (though that could still be an issue). I then pulled apart the electrical connector which was very badly corroded:

As you can see in this photo the brown wire got hot and the connector assembly looks pretty crummy. it took about 30 minutes to get the black connector out of the yellowish block. I did clean all the contacts in the yellow block and I replaced the black connector with some spade terminals...and the motor worked great for the drive home.

I suspect I need to go in and just get rid of the yellowish terminal block and do an improved harness to the motor itself. eeuro has that yellow connector block listed on the site but not in stock.

Looks like it is a VIN required part, so either it is in high demand or short supply.... I think I repaired on the one on my 9-3 by just making my own connector...

Either the fuel pump or cps died today...not sure which. The di cassette was my hope but my spare solvef nothing.

If you turn the ignition to start for the first time (it only works once every 15 minutes unless you pull battery power), you should be able to hear the pump turn on and prime the car for about 3 seconds. If you don't hear it , it is probably the pump. Hopefully you don't have a full tank of gas when you drop the tank :P

If you hear the pump prime and it doesn't run when your cranking then it is probably the CPS.

I guess that could have been the hesitation you felt under boost too , giving you warning ;)

Yeah...check engine light is on too...but it came on the same time i blew the cig lighter fuse so i figured it was the oddball voltage.

Car ran fine. Shut it off and when i cranked to syart it stumbled and that was it...so i suspect pump

Did they add a port under the seats in 98 to access the fuel pump? It irked me my 97 didn't have one... it does now.
I wish my car had winter mood technology.

Pulled the fuel pump out through a hole under the rear seat....much easier than dropping the tank. Pump was very dead. Took the pump apart and found the stator contacts to be worn down. I will get a new pump ordered for next week.
