yeah. won't be buying anything for a while. Certainly no more vehicles. Working on buying a house right now...but even then I could only put so many cars there. As a single person it is hard to drive 9 vehicles at the same time

Don't settle! If you want a usable garage/land to work with - get it. Don't give in because the house has nice features. I gave in to a worthless 2 car garage (and now 4 car side parking) which was only 2 before. It's OK for parking cars - but come working on them it is worthless and actually makes me NOT want to work on them. Also - seek land with space between you and the neighbors. I never had a problem in my townhouse with neighbors right next to me (attached) but once I got a single house - nothing but assholes around me. Retired old people are the WORST.

When I was shopping for a house a few years back, I had trouble with the realtors not understanding that I was looking for a garage with a house, not the other way around.

My wife already knows that is what we'll eventually be in the market for. :yay:

She's pretty jealous of the E-Parts-Land PA compound.

I am getting my first home for 80,000 dollars. It has no garage but I don't feel like I have compromised. my mortgage payment with my insurance payment and my taxes will be 700 dollars a month. I have enough room to build a garage when I get a chance and I can build the garage the way I want to.

Well I'm retired @ 66 and I have as many SAABs as he does and a nice shop with a lift, two lathes , a vertical mill, and a brake rotor lathe. I work on some SAAB project almost every day. I help others out too, ask swedesport.
You just have to pick the right OLD Retired folks ! You all need to visit sometime.

I gotta admit, Gary has a nice little Saab Junkie Homestead going on. wouldn't mind a place like it myself.

It's just an added bonus that he has a short rally stage or two between his place and the main road.

I spent most of Saturday working on cleaning up the block and prepping it for paint. Managed to get most of the rust scale off and grease off. Also pulled the end plate and timing cover off.

engine block and transmission have been reunited. The block was painted and all accessories have been cleaned and reinstalled. Today the head should be back on.

engine is just about ready to go back in. Ordered new hoses and some other odds and ends needed. I have new barrel motor mounts but cannot find my drivers side one. Any idea if they happen to be the same from drivers to passenger side on the older style rubber mounts?

I still need to change the brakes and test determine if the exhaust is any good. I also know there is a problem with either the ignition switch or part of the mechanism as the headlights won't come on unless the key is rotated in the cylinder to the point just before it kills the ignition. The previous owner did't know how to get the key out of the ignition so its possible something got bent.

No the barrel mounts are a right and left. one should be gray, the other black.

Which one do you have? I saw a new grey one recently but it may have been in my alternate storage location. (hours away). I think grey is the passenger side anyway...

If you can't find the one you need you could probably take a used one and fill the air gaps with stiff caulking (hehe). That helps.

There is a set of them at eeuro that we sidelined for the the LeMons car, but since I think we are going to go with an upgraded hydraulic-style setup, I can put them back in inventory if you want them. They are pretty cheap and not that great (we would go through 1 set per race), but better than nothing if you need them.
