Since I got my TIG machine, I've been doing a lot information seeking on proper procedures, materials and consumables all that is left is lot practical experience :) . I have a setup to do back-purging, I've been practicing on scrap and now working on the Lemon's car I whip out the TIG torch just for more practice when it would be way easier to MIG.
It might not be until late spring/summer until I clear some more projects off the plate, but I'm totally willing get something going.

Dennis, thanks for the offer. I think the aluminum crossmember on the 900 interferes with the design of that one on the 99 in your photo. Pretty sure I had one of those exact headers and realized it wouldn't fit. I'm liking where all this discussion is going, it seems like a decent header is on the must do list if I'm sticking with this 8V motor.

My wife & I visited with the Lawrence's last fall . Jack gave us the whole shop tour. Very impressive. Jack is 82-83 years old.

Speaking of Jack Lawrence; from Saabnet:
I have been in contact with Jack at MSS about a header for the B motor. He has agreed to build a one up for me in the $500.00 dollar range. He indicates it could be the end of the year before he gets to it. Bottom line is if anyone wants in they should call him at 716-665-4200 or email him at MSS9@windstream.net. he was not firm on the price and in the end I will pay whatever However, I really suspect this is the final run of these headers. Jack indicates his preference is to do 5 or 6 or more, not just 1, but I think I have his commitment irrespective of whether anyone else contacts him. I told him I would reach out to your members and I will probably do the same on the other site I think it's Saab Rally or something. Either-way Jack agreed to leave it open ended at least through July or so and see how many more express interest. I figured that you could pass this along to the members. Thanks Gerry Serlin.

Just wanted to take a moment for a shout out to my daily driver. 250,000 miles and going strong. Most of these miles predate me, and no service records, so no idea what the secret is. I was happy I rolled over a quarter million miles on a trip to the Oregon coast.

Awesome!!! I'm about to hit 150k.
BTW, I finally got my car tuned. The 2.1 head I got from you is working well. The car has more power than it ever has before. The quaife gets a bit of use. I do kick mself for not getting taht manual rack from you though!
Here's to another 250k for Hastig!

Re: Hastig- Ulrika's long lost twin
Glad the head and quaife are working out. And glad you left me the manual rack- my forearms are getting in great shape. It's actually a blast at any speed over 35- precise control and feedback. That said, I think it's a good match for a light 8v base model like hastig- a bit lighter car. Full turbo 16v & I'd stick with power steering.
And- that last photo is why I can't cut my tow hooks when I try to squeeze in a FMIC in my other car. :)

New grille! I've also finished putting on entirely new brakes all the way around. It'll never be a show car, but what the hell....
And for symmetry I pulled the other bumper strip off. At least it's ALL missing now.

Tough call, but I'm leaning toward letting this car go so I can focus on my main project. I can't keep spending weekends being distracted with this one!

Some choice parts, price is a little optimistic but not crazy. Or is it?

I don't think it's too optimistic. I'll forward the listing to our club, it's hard to find clean C900's here and I think there were a few people in the market.
