Since it looks like 3 of us have added vintage saabs in the last week, this thread for for information sharing as we try to source/fabricate 40+ year old parts.

Re: Vintage Saab 96 resource thread
I have access to anything WordPac and most distribution networks now through eEuro...so if anyone needs anything or wants me too look up availability, let me know. Rockauto uses some different suppliers so they are also a good resource.

Re: Vintage Saab 96 resource thread
I tried a quick Worldpac search and it did not look like it had any parts for a '67 96. Am I wrong?

Re: Vintage Saab 96 resource thread
Jack Ashcraft's Vintage SAAB Parts in OR has a catalog of 96 parts, lots of stuff, phone 541 779-0731... also there's a guy in Watertown NY who is the guru for 96 racing motors - V4s mostly - but a good contact, his business is Sports Car Service or some such, you may find hin by Google, name escapes me right now. And also a dude in NH who's a retired SAAB dealer, he has ads on Vintage SAAB Club.

Also, Jack's in Jamestown, not Watertown. There is a vintage SAAB guy in Watertown, I remember meeting him a few times at Black River Stages, but i think he's more of a mechanic/restoration guy and not a performance parts guy like Jack.

Here's something fun for two strokes:
Spark plug adapters that adapt from an 18mm plug to a modern 14mm plug
http://www.sparkplugadapters.com/services.html
The only thing is I'm not sure which adapters to get. I got a set from someone who already had some and the 18mm side has a tapered seat and the 14mm side has a flat seat (for the spark plug crush washer). I would think one with an 18mm flat seat could be used with a copper washer.
Use NGK BR8EIX Iridium plugs to limit fouling!

The kind of dirty that doesn't wash off

Bill at Sports Car Service (Wilmington, DE) bought a pile of Chip Lamb's old stock now that he's out of the game. Also, he used to service V4's back in the day, so he sometimes has stuff leftover from back when. 302-764-SAAB
Over in Sweden, Niklas Enander has his XP-Tuning brand. He specialized in two-strokes but also has V4 stuff. www.classicsaabracing.com
For standard two-stroke engines, David Baugher is my guy. Beautiful crank rebuilds with brand new parts! davidlbaugher@verizon.net
Bud Clark (budclark@annexus.com) and Tom Donney (tomsaab@gmail.com) are excellent two-stroke resources as well, and both are interested in performance mods as well as clean stock stuff.

Re: Vintage Saab 96 resource thread
Good source for a couple brake parts. I ordered these and can confirm they are correct fit for my 67's rear drum brakes.
Prices are good and shipping is actually less than their website says.

Re: Vintage Saab 96 resource thread
Was having challenges finding a carb rebuild kit for the Solex 28-32 PDSIT-7 so I made a visit to a friends shop. Laid my eyes on the first Formula Vee ever built...a little slice of history
This was there too
Looked through his collection of carb kits and never found anything that really worked.
Tried my local carb shop and they handed me a kit for a Solex 36-40. All looks good except the water choke diaphram/stem.
Great folks at this carb shop http://daytonaparts.com/
