So This how I acquired my Saab 99 turbo block. Looking at the pump it is a type three.
How does one remove a type three, if one only have the puller tool? (8392649).
Pictures are attached.
Thank you!

Re: SOS 78 Turbo, Help!! Water Pump removal Type III
You're lucky the engine is out. Remove the jackshaft very carefully. Then you can use pretty much anything to hoick the pump out. There's 2 holes in the impeller which may be of use to hook the pump out with.
However, because the tip of the shaft is missing makes me wonder if the pump is seized.

Have no fear. If your water pump gear is stripped and has destroyed the jackshaft...you can either source an 8 cog pump or go the electric route. There are options

I think it will screw out with the pump in place, or if the pump gears are all stripped off the shaft would come out.
The threaded stud on top of the impeller is broken off, so you'll have to hook under the impeller thru the two vent holes nutcase mentioned, or you could weld a stud onto the end of the shaft to yank it out.
Are you removing it because you know it leaks, or just to preemptively replace the seals?

I drill a hole in the center of the broken shaft, tap to 1/4", insert a screw and use that to pull it. It's now a regular part of my "B Motor water pump tool kit". Best of luck!
