Actually, the rate I progress on projects, likely to be more like the One Hundred and Twelve Step Program!
Bought this semi-basketcase 11/73 build notchback on a whim, and have REALLY taken a liking to the car... Served duty as an SCCA IT racer in the 90's (came with the log book) so is missing many things unrelated to go/stop/turn, but makes up for it with a ton of upgrades, like an early c900 turbo 5-speed, brakes, 900 rear suspension, Bilsteins, etc. Has some really neat parts, AP Racing clutch, very nice header (MSS?), electric water pump... I'm still discovering new bits in the bottom of boxes
Search has already begun for the hard parts I need to get things moving again. By all means offer observations and comments... as Luke has already pointed out to me, it's not the original motor for the car... though it is a B motor.

What is that crazy assembly plumbed into the coolant line visible in the lower left corner of that photo? Some sort of electric water pump?

Trans positively ID'd as a GM45706... The "from an 85 turbo" is firming up Still can't tell where the engine might be from. Any pointers on what to look for? All I can tell for sure is it's a B motor, has CIS injection, and a coolant bottle from a 75-on...

Well you could pull the distributor out to identify if it has a 12 cog or 8 cog layshaft. I think we can safely assume that the stock water pump is either broken or removed from the car. I think there may be a date cast into the block but it will be very hard to see in the car.

If it's a B20 block the engine number is stamped onto a flat on the upper-forward portion of the block, sort if behind where the distributor sits. It'll take some cleaning to see. It'll be something like B20xxyyyyyy with 'xx' the market variant and 'yyyyyy' the serial number.
