Thanks Jordan. Jeff sent me his .bin file (Thank you Jeff!! :yay: ) that I forwarded to Jason E. to flash to my ECU. I should have it back by friday. I'll have all weekend to try to get it running.

After looking at Jeff's write-up, I'm wondering if I got my 5.2 trigger wheel lined-up correctly. I did it over 2 years ago and just don't remember. If it won't fire by Sat evening, I'll lift the engine and pull the pulley to look.

I don't think you can not line it up correctly since the aperture wheel can only mount one way on the pulley and the sensor mount is fixed?

Yep the 3 holes are not symmetrical.

I pulled the trigger wheel off the 9000 and put it on the 900 pulley and it worked. The relationship to the key way is different on the 202 vs the 234 but SAAB was pretty smart in their indexing scheme.

Yea, the sensor is in a different position in the oil housing on a b234, so it all works out.

It's Alive!

I got the ECU this morning and plugged it in as soon as I got home from work.
After after a few seconds cranking w/ no start, I checked the DI and it was unplugged from swapping it out last night.

Plugged in the DI and it fired immediately! It runs like crap, but it runs! It's running super-rich but that could be any number of things.

I didn't let it run long, I was smoking out my neighborhood!

Nice job. fuel, spark and compression is all you need.

I bet it feels good to see it running after all that work and uncertainty. :yay:

I'll put together a better write up when I get it running better, but so far it's all running through the stock 99 systems.
I pulled the +15 from the green /white wire that previously powered the ignition system.
I replaced the tach lead on the fuel pump relay with the fuel pump trigger from the ECU, eliminated the ground.
The grey wire that that comes off the relay with the fuel pump that once powered the WUR and AAV now powers the O2 preheater.
I replaced the trigger ground from on the Lambda relay with the main trigger from the ECU. The Lambda relay circuits now power the DI and Injectors.
I ran the Check Engine lead to my old knock LED on my dash.

Has anyone created a speed signal for the T5 ECU by wiring in a CC ECU just to condition the speed sensor signal?

Well, it's still running super-rich, but it's still running.
I saw that in improperly-wired TPS can cause a similar problem. My TPS wires are green/red; Blk/wht; grey.
The green/red goes to pin 42. The pin out lists show that one to be "WH/BK TPS OUT"
The grey wire goes to pin 45. The pin out lists show that one to be "GN/BN TPS IN"
The Black/White goes to the sensor ground bundle.

Any idea what's going on here?

How much run time? Mine ran rich for a short while, then adapted.

Here is the wire list I used and the CPS sensor data sheet.

I wired the Hall Effect T 5.2 CPS

T5 pin 64 - Power to CPS Sensor

T5 pin 40 Input from CPS Sensor

Ground wire on CPS sensor to Sensor ground in T-5 Plug area

TPS wired as yours is

Thanks Jeff. It starts easily, runs perfect for about 2 seconds, then way too rich.

It does seem to be improving. Hopefully, I'll get some time to get back to it wednesday.

Sounds like you have some issue with a sensor or wiring...o2 (which may not be that immediate) or coolant temp.. Did you test that the sensors were in range? I can post specs if you need them.

You're using the 5.5 injectors I presume?

Swinging in the dark here John, but I have experienced rich running in the past that have been traced to the map sensor. Start by checking the wiring and pin outs for that. Are you able to hook up to the ECU with T5 suite? That would really make your life a lot easier. Many folks have been where you are and it usually ends up being a problem with the wiring harness or pin outs incorrectly routed.

Pull back the rubber boot and you should see the numbers 1,2,3 on the TPS. Match the numbers to the pin outs. Don't rely on the wire harness colors. All harnesses will have variations in color schemes. Go by the pin out lists and the numbers on the TPS.

TPS ECU
1 Pin 42
2 Engine ground
3 Pin 45

Good Luck.

Thanks Gregg and Jordan.
My Win98 machine just died so I'm ordering the Lawacel CAN USB adapter to go with my XP laptop.

Gragg, Will the OBD port like you installed on your car work with a T5.2 ECU? If so, I can use my UltraGuage to monitor data real-time. Also, are Male plugs available to build an adapter to connect to the ECU through the existing data port?

I'm going today to pick up a new O2 sensor and IAT. As for injectors, I swapped out the red-tops for black-tops, just to lean it a bit while I get the bigger isssue resolved. Hopefully, I'l have all the mechanics solved by the weekend so I can concentrate on tuning.

T5Suite is definitely the easiest, but you can test the sensors the old fashion way too with resistance and voltage values. If you need a reference let me know I have the book semi-handy.
