I know I know...I have a million projects and none of them are done...something I actually have in common with Jason a few years I built a shortened Land Rover chassis from a discovery. we cut the chassis and took 12 inches out of it and welded back together. The new wheelbase is 88" and the original idea was to put an old series body I had on it to make a hybrid. One thing lead to another and I ended up with a lot of rover parts and pieces and the original idea morphed into rebuilding the original and building some sort of hybrid. I've had lots of ideas but have always liked the Bowler Tomcat design for its relative simplicity. I just found a nice computer model I can use for a design basis.
might look a little like this when finished:

I like it! The Bowler trucks look like way more fun than should be allowed.
That blue thing looks sick.

Re: Saabrover
Every time I see a new range rover I think about how cool it would be as a pickup truck.
The first series came as a two door and the new ones look a bit like the old ones.
Anyway, good luck.

It would take a lot of work to turn this into a pile of old rusty motorcycle parts...much more than actually building proposed. Geoff could probably use some of those pieces to put his CB125's back on the road

Yeah, there might be an elusive working bottom end in that pile!

Re: Saabrover
Here is my 1973 North American Spec. Series III at a car show in Manchester Vt. (and transplanted to NJ in March 2013 when we sold our house there) and the cause of the sale of my 1980 Saab 900 Turbo 5 door. I've owned it almost 13 years. While slower than hell, it is still fun to drive. I bought it from the original owner who bought in North Carolina and kept it at his second house there. It had about 16k miles when I bought it - it now has 23k. I find that a lot of folks who like VSaabs like the old Landys.

I used to live in New Zealand and those were all over the place. Always wanted one myself. I would trade a Saab for a good one. Thought about an FJ-40 for a while too. Still haven't let go of that idea...
Re: Saabrover
RadioFlyer - Toyota copied Land Rover, which in turn copied Jeep. FJs are very cool. Probably more reliable than Land Rovers, too.
