So I finally got around to stripping down one of my spare shells...
The specifics:
'74 99 EMS, last inspected in 1989 and been sitting in the weeds ever since where an entire mouse colony happily called it home. So I felt bad for the car and decided its finally time for it to start its transition into a spare rally shell, ready to be pulled into service when the time comes.

About 5 seconds after this photo we discovered the motherload, 15 years of mouse nest.

We decided cleaning woud be easier if we could flip it upside down so rotiseriee was built:

Ya, wish I had that kind of room/time to just get projects done. Then maybe my dads running car count would be up by 2.

I think we need to bring the 71 shell down for a Saab rally prep weekend. I think a group of us can get more done in one weekend then I could alone in a month.

That's a cool way to do it. I wish I had my second garage built so I could do that w/ the antelope before the cage goes in.

for my hour and a half of suffering mosquito bites in the field this evening I was able to pull the brake booster and mount out of potential rally shell #1 tonight. Tomorrow I'll be at the moto shop installing the new clutch kit in the DRZ400...then friday its decide whether to drive to STPR or not.

Undercoating on the bottom was coming off pretty easily with the pressure washer, you can see that big tan section where it just blew right off. Its asphalt sheet on the interior that are really difficult to remove. Thats what the liquid nitrogen will be for.

Cool, I couldn't tell if if was just coming off in loose parts, or it would just blast away... you need to make that rotisserie foldable for transportation ;)

according to Charlie you should be able to get the liquid nitrogen in a much smaller container then the big 500lb unit. He was saying you could get them in a container similar to or smaller then the propane bottle used on most gas grills...which would still provide plenty for a rally shell job.

Yeah you can get small little dewars and get them filled but you have to own your own in that case. My friend that works for a lab at penn state may be able to "borrow" one for me though. Mike ran out doing his and he got the 500 lb jobber, although he did say he lost nearly half the tank to a leaky valve.
