I seem to be the latest owner in along line. I think this car will spend it's final days with me. I have started on the path of making it into the next SCCA ' PHA hill climb and track trial car. I recently sold my Sonett V-4 to clear up some garage space for the Notch. I've posted 2 pictures of the 2 cars in the shop. I have the front suspension off and painted and about ready to go back in.
The car will wind up some version of a T-5 16V turbo with a front mount intercooler, 5 speed with a Quaife, if it ever arrives, and a full cage this time. The green car only has a roll bar.
Anyway I'll post some pictures and text as I go and I hope that it's running for the first event in late May 2014.

:yay:

So glad its being put to good use, hopefully I can see it come full circle at a race sometime. Perhaps it was fate, but I found that missing fuel filler door the other day. Would you like it or do you have an extra to throw on there?

You and Mongo should get your cars together when they're complete.

The paint in this point is misleadingly good. This will not be the long term color.

In my case the color Rust-oleum Red / alla Hutch will be long term.
The more I polish it up ,the more it amuses me. It sure is bright.

I think once you clad it up with some graphics, it will look just fine.

Time to update this project. Last pictures showed no suspension etc. The SCCA legal roll cage is in. The front suspension is all in and bushed and paintedwith SPG springs and Bilstein HD Gas shocks. The FMIC is mounted for test fit purposes. The 90 900 trans has been gone thru and Quaife added. The dash has been test cut to fit around the cage. All excess wiring has been removed from harness. It's time to fit an interim motor to figure out various details. I can reinstall brake lines and harness. Would like to have it moving on it's own by late March. Hope to run an auto X before the first PHA Track Trial in Late May.
I have been spending several hours each day in the shop with details. It's like a real job again !!

February update : I set a goal to be able to drive the car out of the shop under it's own power by 2/28/14. Well I fired it up and backed it out at 4:15 PM yesterday. :yay: I ran the car for about 15 minutes then shut it off. Would not restart, just cranked and no fire. I pushed the car closer to the garage door thinking I could get it back in on the starter motor. :bawl: Car would not start at all. Saturday AM, I went through the basic no start tests and the crank sensor was bad. It was brand new. I replaced it with a used one and the car has run and started all day long. I am going to slip the new one in again to see if it runs. If not , back to eEuro parts.

The car is far from done, but getting this far is a great relief. I have a lot of details but all the big stuff is done. I hope to get an auto X event in before the PHA hill climb season starts. I think I may try to get the car titled and licensed so I can test on the street like everyone else. In Penna. the car could very loosely be considered an Antique.

Yes I have lots of photo's but for some reason, I have been having problems posting them. I get some message about exceeding some quota ? I can e-mail some to you. That seems to work. I just e-mailed you 2 shots that proves the car made it outside and was running ( exhaust pipe smoke).

OK more pictures if this works. The cage was a "kit" that S & W Race cars did for me. They bend a lot of bar and cage kits for all sorts of stuff. Their Mech. Engineer races against me and he and I measured up my car as a prototype for their line of kits. They bend the basic bar and the halo and the front down pipes and leave everything a little long. It was a real education cutting and fitting all the birds- mouth joints, but I got it done. The kit cost me about $ 500.00 for everything. I had to modify the flat floor plates etc, but that was basic. You can purchase the kit from them if anyone has interest.
