I have a question about trionic 5 conversions.
I would like to switch to trionic 5 but keep the original 99 dash. Problem: the 99 dash has no speed signal output.
Some say you can make selections in T5suites to run without speedsignal , some say the car will only run on baseboost.

I have the option of buying a 9-3 my 99 with all the trionic parts / engine still intact.

How do you guys fix the speed signal problem? Can anyone help me out?

Greetings,
Gert-Jan

I know nothing

Gert,
The speed signal is not required to run T5. It is only used for the cruise control and upshift light.

I run only the most basic elements of T5 on my 99 and I am very happy w/ the results. I don't believe any changes were required to be made in the ECU to leave out the speed sensor.

Just run the stock speedo cable and speedometer.

It does indeed get the signal from the instrument cluster. But it can be tuned out. It is not necessary for full boost

Ok thanks for the reactions,
I gues I will give it a try without the speedsignal.

Check MikeD T5 thread on Saablink. Very recently he posted he used an Autometer speed signal generator between the gearbox and the speedo cable. I think he had to recalibrate for the input, but the Ecu now knew that what gear you are in and allows the boost maps to work correctly.
I recall he sighted the part number too.

Oh yeah, boost limiting.

I saw that thread, simple and easy way to do that. Other than disabling boost limiting in the first place of course.

Here's the part.

Autometer 5291 replacement speedometer sender.

I've been reading the thread on saablink, very useful.

The replacement speedometer sender seems like a good solution.
Thanks for the reply's!!

Neat that that sender is available - would also work to drive a 2nd backup signal for a rally computer.... hmm....

Yeah, I think we would be better off dealing with a speedometer computer sender for the rally computer vs the wheel senders which we seem to lose left and right.

I thought the SAAB speedometer cable on the transmission end was 22x1.5mm. But I may be wrong. Anyone know?

That Jeg's adapter is 7/8-18 which is only different from a 22x1.5 by 0.2mm in inner diameter (larger) and 0.09mm in pitch (smaller). Maybe it just fits?

Small update.
Car is running good, 4th and 5th gear the turbo is a bit to small and the pressure drops at 0,7-0,8 bar.

Been shopping for 16" steel wheels, found some 16", 4x108mm from Peugeot, citroën. Mounted some sticky rubber toyo proxess r888, front: 205-55-16, rear: 215-50-16
Big difference in grip level!

Made a new exhaust system, starts at 70mm, original turbo end muffler 60mm and 70mm end pipe.

bought a bigger oil cooler to replace the small original one. Oil temp max.120°C on a hot summer night heavy drive.

pictures oil cooler, new wheels and exhaust:

Made a few changes
9000 brakes in front:

Made a few air intakes/outlets to get a better airflow/cooling for the engine/intercooler.
Needs a bit of paint but for now it will do.
