Hi, Good luck with this problem. These can be a pain in the ass to chase down. Any chance you have the OBII port wired into the harness? You can plug a OBII code reader and it will tell you if the crank position sensor is shot. Super handy for trouble shooting these kinds of issues. ( I snagged mine from a '96 900. It is mounted right under the dash on the driver's knee bolster.) If you don't I would add it to the harness and read the ECU. It is this simple:

OBD 2 Connector
7............................Pin 33 ECU
14..........................Pin 56 ECU
4 and 5...................Ground
16..........................Switched power (+15)

Here are the codes:

I got a new CPS from Eeuro and so far no change in behavior. Looked through the wiring and found that the CPS coaxial connection was switched with the non coaxial, pretty sure it wouldn't make a difference, but I went ahead and switched the pins. i had someone crank the engine over while I moved the CPS around its adjustment range.

Still no tach signal.

I have an OBDII port that i'm going to wire up and check for codes, just need to buy a cheap code reader.

Updates to come once i pull some codes
