Some Enron accounting. The decimal point slipped over to the left.
You know Saab guys and their money, they are hard to separate.

Cleaned up the bench and shop. Time to start tube fitting and tacking.
Got the hanger in place and the merge collector sitting in space.

Moved over the mockup flanges and added back in the primaries.

Re: Twin Scroll Turbo
In between yard work projects I reset the gopro and did some dry runs with the TIG torch.
I spent a lot of time on the head rotation tooling, but I think it is going to be worth it. The alternative would be in car situ, which is a total pita.
Two axis of movement: roll and yaw.

Re: Twin Scroll Turbo
Since you've done all the mock up with the header modelling blocks you know all your dimensions. It would be fun to get the header tubes bent on a CNC bender.

Re: Twin Scroll Turbo
Geoff, what does a machine like that actually cost? The tooling must cost a fortune also. Heck, I think a Hossfield manual bender and some dies are a blessing. I wouldn't / couldn't even write the program to do the bends. That video makes me feel real OLD SCHOOL.

Thanks for the vid. Always cool to see machine automation. That would be the next step if it were to go into production. Still at proof of concept stage. Yes, it all physically fits and I have a starting point length, but don't know if it makes more power, and if so where? Ideally I'd have the old and new arrangements kitted. Do back to back Dyno with each. I had a baseline number for the old setup, but the shop closed and the Dyno is gone.
Gary you should not feel old school. Think of it is how much advancement you have see in your lifetime. We invent machines to do the repetitive boring stuff or if a human can't be reliable enough. Sometimes old school is the way to go. You know it works and it is economical for a one off.
Let the building of scrap pile begin. Hope to report real parts progress next time.

Thanks for the progress photos, you're really cooking!
That bender would easily cost several million dollars with all the options that one is loaded with. A tube shop could probably do one set of your primaries for a couple grand? Something like that.

Oh for sure. I am routinely blown away by some of the badass manufacturing equipment I get to be around at work. One of our niches is building superplastic forming presses that make titanium aircraft parts (it's sometimes called "creep forming"). That was a very cool thing to see installed and running at one of the Boeing plants outside Seattle...

Dude, where you in my hood? About an hour from Kent. Let me know if you plan on coming to the PNW and maybe we can pull something together?
