Re: Twin Scroll Turbo
Added the rivnuts. I borrowed a Huck tool that worked in line with the fastener and not 90 degrees like the common pop rivet gun. Demo on some scrap sheet that was about the same gauge as the frame.
Drilled holes using the base as the drill template.

What's up with the Red Bull can? Trying to give your Saab wings?
Seriously though, it looks like you're using it as a heat shield?
Your work is phenomenal as always.

One could say it gives the car wings. The red bull can is wrapped around a water /meth injection pump.
I figured it was more appropriate than a Fosters oil can. Either way it is there for fun factor.

Re: Twin Scroll Turbo
Doing a bit more thermal management. With 2 and 3 primary runners so close to the cam cover I figured I better do this now and not wait. I want to prevent the oil from being cooked on the backside of the cover and worst yet melting the O ring gasket and spraying oil right on the F'in primaries themselves. Installed some rivnuts on the cam cover. I picked the fastener locations where there are no cam lobes or carrier mounts.
The rivnut has a built in shoulder and that creates a standoff for the stainless sheet, creating an air gap. Final step is to add some lava mat (header wrap) sheet on the cover for conductive insulation. The stainless is for radiation heat.

Added a second tier to my radiation blast shield to protect the plug wires and coils.
Dry fit with blue tape.
Rosette weld the flanges. Back purge with a copper heat sink
Added lava mat and sealed the edges with high temp RTV silicone.

Getting closer to the end of the project. Added finishes to the hanger and cam cover
Powder coated the hanger in a wrinkle black. I bought an Eastwood DIY and it has served me pretty well for these little parts.
Pre heat after I scotch-brite and acetone wiped.
Spray/Dust
Piping hot out of the oven, ready to enjoy
Freshed up the cam cover for some bling factor. I used high temp VHT flat black and followed the curing process. Top coat with Eastwood diamond satin clear. Says it is good to 300*F. Time will tell.
Blast shield in place. Some minor bending and alignment to dial in the "wall" to protect the wires and coils and clearance. The thermo radiation is line of sight, so a straight edge is all you need to find its happy place.

Re: Twin Scroll Turbo
Machining some O2 sensor bungs from 321 stainless. These are tall finned bungs to allow the UEGO to sit about 3 inches from the head on each primary. I will have four of these running and with a ECU that allows individual trim, you can dial in each injector time to match the runner.
AEM Electronics sells these bungs, but they are made of free machine stainless. This material contains lead or some other metal that makes machining easier, but a bitch to weld. The puddle never settles, it pops, and is an all around CF.

Threading in action.
That is what happens when you have the correct type of tap, bored hole, and HP to turn it.

Nice! The lathe I can use at work would have stalled just looking at that tap.
The kind of dirty that doesn't wash off

For all you machinist out there or you just appreciate shiney metal.
This is the company who made the tap we used for the O2 bungs. He also got great tech support from the actual tool engineer. Threading stainless is a bitch. If it gets upset, it work hardens and gives you the finger.

On the super slow mo of the tap busting, my buddy and I thought some six million dollar man sound effects would be a nice edit.
A novel way to thread a hole.
