91 9k engine issues
I'm posting this here because I feel this group will have more experience with the older engine in the car. I'm not generating any oil pressure. The engine was rebuilt over last winter, the only thing not replaced was the crank, rods, and pistons. The balance shaft system was rebuilt not deleted too. I'm not really sure if there is specific area I should be looking at our not. The oil pan was cleaned and new o rings installed along with new gaskets everywhere. The only thing I cannot be sure of I'd if the oil pump gears where properly aligned during installation or not.

Re: 91 9k engine issues
when you put the oil pump together did you pack the gears with vaseline or engine grease? if you did not it is likely that the pump is not priming. packing the gears with grease will allow them to self prime and the small amount of grease just mixes with the oil and wont cause issues. Otherwise it is possible that the oil pickup tube O ring rolled out of position when it went into the case.....though i cannot remember if the 9000 engine oil pickup tube works the same as the c900 one.

Could there be something causing the oil pressure relief valve to stick open ?

That relief valve was my first thought and will be where I check first.

There is a front and back to the main oil gear but do no believe there is a specific alignment. Is there a reason why the engine was built in the first place?

The engine is part of a total car rebuild so it was broken down to replace all the seals, bearings, timing stuff and the like. When the engine was pulled from the parts car we bought it ran fine

Re: 91 9k engine issues
Is anyone aware if the group nine stainless down pipe will clear the oil filter location on this older block?
