So I trashed 2nd gear earlier this year..

Which means the engine has to come out. Which means other things can be done as well.

So things are again getting out of hand..

After stripping almost everything out of the engine bay I found one big hole behind the washerfluid tank and both wheel arches were getting crunchy so..

I've been patiently waiting since early April to source everything and for the welder, painter and mechanic to fix everything back up

-2 new outer fenders
-2 new inner fenders
-a full respray of the engine bay (including the tunnels)
-new bushings on the wishbones
-new paint on the wishbones
-new spring hats
-a rebuilt 55804 gearbox (now a 55904) with a Quaiff ATB and steel diffcover with temperature sensor
-Saabits clutch hose and brake lines (in white of course )

Hey Krizzie, I've been thinking about doing a Xenon swap recently but your pictures of your setup seemed to have died with photobucket. Do you have any more pics on Flickr or any more details about your setup? Did you get clear lenses for it, or sand yours flat, or just use as is?

H4 harness
6000K XB35 bulbs (5000k might be nicer with white LEDs, but weren't available when I got the kit)
mini gatling gun shrouds (they screw on instead of glue like the other options)

Fairly easy to install. I removed the H4 bulbholder inside the reflector and drilled the hole out, to route the highbeam wires through. That is basically the only modification I did to the headlights.

I bought new headlights (euro spec) so I didn't need new sealing, but it might be handy if you use older headlights

Stock lenses and everything. I don't like the look of clear lenses on a 900 classic. And I don't think they will add much. The cutoff is a lot better than the stock reflector will ever do.

I've been using these for years now and I've never been flashed, not even on completely dark roads.
You do have to use the headlight adjustment when you have people or a heavy load in the back. (Not sure if US cars had this though..)

Looking very sweet. That is a lot of front end bodywork. Recommend adding a turbine heat sheild to protect the DIC connector above it. I recall that wire is only vinyl insulated and not very high temp at all. I see a sleeve but can't tell if it is fire sleeve? In any case it is short and leave tthe wires exposed.

I still have the original heatshield, but it's a bit rusty coated, so I might clean that up and re install it. Al though I like the cleaner look of it not installed..

I hope to drive it home tomorrow. :D

Some metal sheet should be enough right? Maybe I curl something around the turbine to protect the DI wire and the IC pipe on the side.

I don't really like the look of a turbo blanket..

As some of the Facebookers might have seen. My Type9 primary is no more. The chains have slipped the small gear..

I don't have pictures yet, not been to the garage yet. I'm waiting for some new parts, including Jörgen Erikssons 8.5 primary.

Not as long as the Type9's but a lot more quiet and a proven design.

Jorgen Eriksson's type 8.5 primaries? I found the motor mount from eEuroparts to sit too high. I spoke with Jordan Pagano about it. It has now been modified to sit about 0.319" lower.
Any more updates?

Jörgens type 8.5 yes. Pretty much perfect in revs now. The type 9's were too long and too loud (Still waiting on RBM for a refund, which I'm probably never going to get..)

Any downsides to the engine sitting a little too high?

I've brought a 2.1 head and intake to the workshop for cleaning and rebuilding (if it's needed) since my headgasket is slightly leaking (coolant gets pushed out of the tank when boost pressure gets too high)

I need to install the front aero arches and a few extra clamps for the skirts so things are thight against the body again. And tidy up the xenon wiring so water has no chance in coming into the headlight.
