Happy New Year John. Way to kick 2024 off with a little b-motor bang. I did a bunch of work on my 99t with b-motor last summer. She had been a garage queen for the past 12ish years.

Any more progress? I still have a B motor D-Jet intake manifold that would allow you to run a more modern fuel injection setup if you were so inclined. I also have a weber intake manifold that would allow you to switch to throttle bodies.

Thanks for the offers.
After fixing the ignition and a new valve cover/gasket, I took it for a drive and blew the head gasket.
Now I'm trying to decide if I want to fix this motor, install my old BSI20 race motor (still sitting under my carport) or my B202 T5 motor.
The B would be cool as I still have the '6-port' FD I got from you years ago. I could make a very nice 78 Turbo 'Tribute' car.
The B202 T5 would be faster, but I just want to get something cool together for the SOC in Portland this year.
I've got 4 months...

Too bad with the blown head gasket. I'm sure you will figure out a new powerplant for the 99. Bring the 99 to SOC. Chi's SOC only had one "99" which was pretty much just the shell with a V8 engine RWD. Cool car, but not a true 99.
Keep us updated.

My goal is to have 2 99s ready and I've heard from others that plan to be there. Sounds like a good year for 99s. T

I've been looking for a reason to go to the SOC this year. 99s are a good one. We'd leave Buttercup (76 99gl ) at home but bring Toad (77 99gl 5dr wagonback).

Hmmm, Buttercup. Is it Topaz Yellow by any chance?
We've got one of those...
Hope to see you there!

Tangent and age old topic: I reached out to RPGlasfiber a couple days ago to verify they still make the Rally wheel flares for the 99/900. Their site says they cost $500 a set. Anders got back to me and his reply basically said they are launching an updated website in a week or two and they are still in business and still offer all the parts.

Not a bad tangent. Just FYI, I bought Dennis's flare molds from the batch he made. The plan is to convert them to vacuum form ABS. Trying to track down the SAS airdam molds as well.
Not long ago I found a site (I assume swedish) that had several versions of 99 and 900 headers, but I've lost the link. Any idea who that is?

Wow, Dennis that 99T is nice!

John, I'm glad to hear you are planning to convert the molds to vacuum forming. I remember Jason was asking about that a while back. I've been thinking that would be a great way to make those fender flares. Keep us informed of your progress! Also, it's cool that you're trying to track down the airdam molds, too! Is the whaletail mold still out there somewhere?

Was the Kyrk Motorsports that had the headers?

Buttercup is/was Monte Carlo yellow with a 1999 repaint. But she's faded now. The 1977 99GL wagonback was painted white when we got it (factory was brown) and we painted it the super bright Lightning Blue (totally a 1990's color not a 70's color) in...about 2021. The blue car would be the one coming though we also have an 88 SPG with AC which is nice for summer drives.
