Group buy on flares?

Postby 99Super » Thu Jan 25, 2007 10:48 am

So, after seeing the pics of Luke's flares, I've decided I really need a set on my Hillclimber, Frankensaab. They would help the 0" offset 7" wheels I use not look so goofy.
Any interest in a group buy? I really want a set on the car before the Con in August...

Luke is really a pioneer isn't he. He has quite a following now.

I'd be interested in another set. They aren't that expensive but shipping was. I think we could bundle a bunch together and save a lot on shipping.
Anders just emailed me the other day to say hi. I'll ask him about shipping a bunch at once. We'd have to figure out payment and all that. I was trying to convince him to setup a paypal account but he didnt seem to want to do it.

How did you pay him last time? How expensive was the set you have, less shipping?
I have to finish paying for the 2 LSD's I ordered, so I can do flares or Wilwoods before the Con, bot not likely both (unless I wait to do the 16vT conversion)...

They were about $220 for the set if I remember correctly, since then the $ has weakened so they might be more. I did a direct bank transfer which was sorta a pain.

That's about the number I remember. Was there any other payment option? CC? Maybe with a large enough order he'd join paypal. With the Quaife group buy, one guy used his CC to pay for it all and we are each paying him. It would be nice to get 5-10 sets. It would aso be good to get a set to sacrifice so someone could produce them locally...

So what, we have interest in 4-6 sets? Should we try to move forward on this? Maybe cross-post to some other forums?
I want to get moving on this in the next couple of months...

Yeah I think 4-6 sets sounds about right.
Let me email Anders and he should be able to get us a quote. We'll just have to figure out how to go about payment.

Thanks for the help on this Luke!
How long did it take for you get your flares? I'd like to have them by early June so I can have them mounted in time for the Freezeout Hillclimb. If I can have the car ready to race by this event in mid-June, I'll have 6 weeks to tune the car for the SOC in August...

I wonder of those guys will be at the Festival in Sweden in June... I'm going and I'd like to see what all their other stuff looks like while I'm there (they don't have many photos on their website and I don't read much of the Swedish on it either!)

Also..... This is my 69th post!!

It took me a while to find!

The hard part with Swedish is that a lot of the words are two (or more?) words combined. This makes it really tough to translate because I never know where the words are combined so I don't know how to break them up.

The things under the 99 section say something like:
-front screen/shade/shield widened 6cm (I have no idea what this means)
-back screen widened 6cm
-motor cover (hood?) 99-90 69-86
-baggage door (trunk) 99 sedan
-baggage door (trunk) 99 combi coupe
-right door (wing door?) 99 (anyone know what this is?)
-Skärmbreddarsats (I think this is the fender flares?) SAAB Original
-Fender flares SAAB original but 15mm wider
-Original Front Spoiler (airdam)

Where is Matti?

yeah the way Swedish works is that the words are often more descriptive then just the word. So for instance in English we might say the word barn....in Swedish when they say the word barn, they are actually saying bigredbarnontopofthehillsurroundedbyfields. This is also similar to German.
