• Hawk HPS- luke where did you buy them?

I want to know how you got them so cheap. I would have bought a set if i could have found them for that little.

I use HT-10 pads, they take a while to warm up but I love them once they are. Don't try Blues, they eat rotors

Hmm, I just looked at the cost for pads for your caliper. 4x as expensive as for mine :cry:

I guess thats one of the nice things about using a universal caliper like I have.

I've heard good things about Porterfield RS4 pads. That is what I plan to put on my 99, not sure the cost though.

I think Geoff recommended them a while ago.

I bought mintex redbox pads the other week anyway. Just a normal street pad, OEM replacement type shit but less dust. I just didn't want to shell out for expensive pads at the time. Next time tho.

yeah, I used the Porterfield R4S pads on my street/TSD SPG. When I first put them in they were rad. Really strong even before they were warmed up. After a while they turned kind of weak (like MetalMasters). I ordered another full set for my '80 99 and when I did I asked about the problem I had. The girl I spoke with said that I needed to bed them in slowly with no hard braking over the first 1000 miles. I never got a chance to try them out with that bed-in procedure because the )&*%)& engine is messed up.

1000 mile bed-in with no hard breaking? That would be really hard to handle...

yeah, that procedure seemed strange to me. I never got a chance to try it out though. Maybe one day I'll get that car going again.

Normal break in procedures are like what, 60 with a hard brake a few times, then 50 hard brake, 40 hard brake, 30 hard brake, etc?

yeah, thats similar to what I did when I put the first set of Porterfields on. I think I did 30 with a moderate stop, 30 with a hard stop, 45 with a hard stop, and I think I did 60 twice with hard stops then let it cool.
