Okay, got to try out the new snow tires today. They are very decent. I was very suprised.

Much better than I had thought even at higher speeds. The low speed traction was decent, braking was good.

So, what a bid difference in thinking. I was taught that you wanted a large open track for dig and self cleaning. This tire is fairly closed tread pattern. Who knew. Not I.

think blocks with some gap for gripping snow and clearing the snow, think sipes cut into each block for ice grip. Then of course a proper temperature rated rubber compound is required.
