svedka, definitely.

I hear Redline MTL and Redline Shockproof are good, also.

the shockproof is good if you just want to use 1 gear and not shift it apparently.

yeah the shockproof only works when its really hot out, otherwise ya cant shift. redline MTL should work well, but ive never tried it.

I know for fact that Saab is different, if you use gear oil that most import use you won't be able to shift properly. Saab calls for 10W30 to be used in gearbox in cold climates. I know for fact that thin oil in gearboxes is not that good against high gear loads.

The 10W-30 is almost = to 75W gear oil. Saab used to recommend the 75W gear oil from Kendall. Then Kendall stopped making it and SAAB went back to 10W-30.

Raul, your an idiot.

Also, 10w 30 was used after saab had warranty claims about the cars not shifting right - these claims were always in bad weather, when the gear oil would cause that symptom. 10w30 is not really what anyone should put in their gearbox.

We have always used Redline MTL but I have heard scanwest ran something different in their rally boxes

I recall reading about honda manual transmission fluid (gear oil) on saabnet. People liked it (back when I had a 900 anyway).

I use shockproof in my daily driver and it shifts fine when it is fairly cold (snowing). If it really cold MTL would be a better choice.

clarification: I use the lightweight shockproof. Blue green stuff.

has anyone ever used the SAAB synthetic fluid, MTF0063, in a c900/99 tranny? It works nice in the '94-'02 new gen/9-3 trannies

I use BG Synchroshift in all my SAAB (and Saab) gearboxes... From two-stroke to Turbo!
It's not cheap, but its the best thing I've found.

I get it locally at Sports Car Service so it is convenient for me... But don't expect to find it at the local autoparts store.

Here's a couple quick links I found...

I use Redline MT-90 in the rally car. No complaints.

saab synthetic fluid made my 9000's transmission EXPLODE out through the case.

9000/9-5 transmissions do that normally. Differential issues, did it take out your clutch too? the spider gear shoots right through the diff case, generally into the clutch housing, but sometimes right onto the ground. really is a very typical failure of the F35 trans, the cobalts have the exact same issue in even low mileage cars.
