In practice, I have yet to find a downside to the Quaife.

Have you ran anything else but the Quaife?
Okay, so I'm female and like SAAB's go figure. Mind you, I like a good set of strappy sandal's just about as much though they don't take you thru the corners as fast. LOL

Just want to see if anyone has any thoughts on this stuff before I try and stir up interest on some other sites.

Also, anyone else here? Drew? Josh, I know you have been sleeping on a beach lately, but would want one in case you ever return to these colder parts? I would be happy to hold it for you and would even promise not to use it at all myself.

Hi John, I guess it works both ways.

I have used other plate types a fluid type and have driven a GTI with a Quaife type.

Back in the day. I used to do lots of fast back road stuff. Kind of the driving that isn't really appropriate anymore around here.. But back then I used to get fast enough to have a wheel up in the air and the shock load from it landing back on the ground was enough to trash the gear boxes..

With the Gripper in Rosie. I've jumped her, cornered her, back roaded her and I can tell the difference when I corner with the pedal down.. She just pulls and pulls hard.

This is the reason why I asked if you used anything different.. No offense intended. Wish I could find a Plate type for my older 96..

The only thing I don't like about the Gripper is one side does pull harder than the other..

A sharp turn to the left from stopped and Rosie will bounce around the corner from tire scrub.. Turn to the right not so much.

Have you talked with Tom yet?

Jennifer,
Interesting analysis of both types. I hope to get drive one of the clutch-type one day.

Does anybody know anything about the Diffs from http://www.peloquins.com/ ?

Supposedly a Torsen-type diff w/ preload to cure the no-traction problem. Maybe approach him about a run for 99/900?

Just back from the Thunderbird TSD rally up in BC. TSDs certainly aren't stage rallies, and we're not on the track, but the Quaife works very well for us, on both gravel and snow, and has no negatives on the street; we have no regrets putting one in the car, only deep inner peace every time we get actual two-wheel-drive instead of one-wheel-peel. Now, it may well be that, in comparison, the Gripper blows the Quaife away -- I wouldn't know, not having driven a car with a Gripper -- but the Quaife shouldn't be ruled out because "it doesn't work when a wheel is in the air." After a year-plus of rallies (and rallymaster recon trips), no troubles. If we bust an axle, I'll be sure to report back.

I'd be interested to see what the final price would be.

When are you placing the order, and what's the turnaround?

I have been assuming that what Josh was told last year about the 5 unit min will be the same. Once there are enough people who want one I would place the order.

I'll ask about price and turnaround when I send them an email, will also confirm that we would need at least 5.

Pascal, Thanks for the generous offer to babysit for me. Shortly after I started this thread I did however end up buying Mongoswede's unused unit from the original order. Some great day... not too many years from now I will get an elaborate email from Luke explaning how awesome it looks in the glorious crashbox he put back together for me while I was sleeping on the beach.

Hello Pascal, yes we would do another batch of Gripper Lsd units for the

Saab 900, lead time from place of order 8 weeks, price would be £760.00

less 15% if all shipped to 1 address. Would need you to explain the fitment

problem to us again please. We did supply special crown wheel bolts which

we think cured the problem. Please advise. We will advise shipping costs over

next 48 hours. Best regards Tom.
