Tarmac wheels came today

Postby Jordan » Mon Apr 30, 2007 1:14 pm

the 15x7 wheels came today, I will take pics but camera is MIA. They look pretty nice and I can't wait to get some grippy tires on them. Unfortunately, I'll need to wait until I've gone through my recently purchaced tires due to budgetary constraints.

I did a quick weigh-in on the digital bathroom scale and they are 18.0lbs with some balancing weights still attached. Not ultra lights, but I don't think that is that bad and they look pretty tough.

Note, that I said "for a deal". The better wheels in that bunch, BBS, Kosei, are all pretty light. I never said you'd find light wheels for little money. Like I said, "18 lbs is what you get for a deal."

I'm sure most of those wheels are not a "deal" they are just not super expensive ultra light race wheels.

Borbet, ASA, Sportmax, even the Koseis are not expensive wheels. Kosei K1's in 17 inch size are on closeout from tirerack for $179, and weigh 16 lbs.

when did wheels @ $800 a set not become expensive? And what does the fact that some random wheel on closeout that is a light wheel make 18lbs heavy for a 15x7? I don't see your logic.

A set of WRX wheels with low mileage tires on them for under $200 shipped is a deal. $800 for wheels without tires is NOT a deal.

$800 is on the cheap side for new wheels, but not a deal. You have understand we are all cheap as they come saab owners though and we don't drive lil foo foo's so thats a lot of $ to us.
I think Jordans wheels will be fine, heavy or light. I've used essentially the same ones and they didnt seem to slow me down.
You still got that bug up your $^%# over those holey wheels you missed on ebay, or are you just a fighting irishman?

Here's my logic, that's i've painly stated that you don't seem to see- I never said the wheels were too heavy. I just said in a joking manner that "18 lbs is what you get for a deal". I never said they were "too heavy". I'm not worried about anything, and I'm not sure where I said $800 wasn't a lot of money. Is $800 a lot of money? Yes. Is $800 a lot of money for rims? Hell no.

P.S.- I'd settle for anything other than my stock wheels right now- mine are 25 lbs each.
