C900 suspension into 99 questions

Postby Dsp99t » Mon Dec 10, 2012 9:03 pm

What is the advantage of using the c900 rear beam? Is it a wider track? If so is there any difference up front?

Its wider and stronger but heavier. The bolts in the 99 swing arms are not a perfect fit, oddly they are SAE standard. The 99 bolts are larger in diameter. The control arms themselves are different, and they moved the mounting points outward on the 900 to try to protect the axle from getting bent. The 99 axles are still heavy duty. I am not sure that the 900 really has an advantage unless you are rallying or otherwise beating on the suspension. It does look cooler with more poke in the back.
There is no such thing as too low or too stiff.

Ok so the wider track is a plus in back. Is there any wider track options up front or am I stuck with spacers?

Lower shock mounts are different and you can use a 900 rear sway bar which is far more common than a 99 rear sway bar.

Hmm well I already have the rare saab performance group adjustable rear bar and Bilstein shocks all around. Plus I also have the matching front bar sitting on the shelf. The main reason for my query is I'm looking for more space to fit tires.

in that case you'd probably be better using spacers or different offset wheels
