Anybody have an unlimited carfax account? Looking for the mileage on an engine I have in the basement. The seller claimed it had only about 55k miles - just want to see if its true before sticking it in a car.
It appears to be from an '88 900 turbo hatch. But no oil tubes above the head. I thought 88 still had those.
Anyway, the VIN is YS3AL35L1J3024560.
Can anyone look up a VIN for me?

Re: Can anyone look up a VIN for me?
Nevermind. Looks like I got it. No mileage could be found, but it was from an 88 turbo 5spd hatch. Wasn't registered for the first time until '92, so it could have been a dealer car. Crashed 12 years ago, so it could still be low mileage. Pretty close to what the seller said. I'm going to try it.
Anyone know what year they removed the oil feed tubes from the 16V head? This one has no tubes, but I thought they were supposed to still be there in 88?

Pretty sure 88 was the last year that used them. I have an 88 16v in one car that has them, and the head from the 89T in my notch did not.
You could always pull a bearing cap or 2 and inspect and retorque them.

I think I read that they changed mid-88. My '88 9000T has the original cylinder head on it, without the plastic tubes.
